Bell has multiple openings for Flight Controls Software Engineer to support the development of Conventional and Fly-By-Wire Helicopters and Tiltrotor Aircraft, both manned and un-manned, as well as new and novel products and platforms, such as autonomous Urban Air Taxi and Product transportation/delivery systems.

The systems requirements associated with these products are challenging and exciting. Our existing aircraft systems and emerging concept vehicles provide opportunities for systems engineering, simulation and test of configurations and technologies that will shape the future of aviation. This position will be part of a diverse team of engineers capable of executing in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

These positions may be located at Bell Helicopter's headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX or the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX.

The Software Engineer is responsible for:

* Design and test of Flight Control System (FCS) and Avionics System with embedded DO-178 software and complex hardware
* System and software design, requirements management, systems specifications, verification and validation testing, and documentation for system and software
* Requirements development in a laboratory or desktop simulation environment
* Perform conventional and Model Based Software Design using C/C code development tools and MathWorks MATLAB & SIMULINK toolsets.
* Develop and update requirements and verification traceability in DOORS
* Conduct software integration and testing on target hardware
* Develop, implement, document, and review Low-Level Test (LLT) and High-Level Test (HLT) software cases and expected results
* Perform LLT and HLT execution on desktop environment and target electronic hardware integrated with real sensors and actuators in a lab environment
* Support certification/qualification efforts

Education Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree is required.
* Major in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred.
* Bachelor's Degree in other engineering disciplines will be considered with sufficient software development experience.
* Master's Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is preferred.



Position Requirements to be considered:

* At least 2 years' experience is required.
* Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, 14 CFR Part 27 and Part 29 for commercial and military qualification and certification of aircraft systems, and multiple data protocols

Experience with Primary Development Environment:

* MathWorks MATLAB / Simulink with Stateflow and Embedded Coder
* C/C code
* C# test scripts
* IBM Rational DOORS
* Serena Dimensions / PVCS
* Git
