Job Description

Title: Finance Applications Systems Specialist - SAP

Location: Hoboken

Summary: Reporting to the Sr SAP Manager, this role has responsibility for functional SAP design and configuration. The focus of this role is to ensure the Wiley SAP solution design is consistent with SAP best practices.

* Facilitate the implementation and support of SAP Financials (focus on SAP FSCM, New GL, Projects and Assets. Record to Report and Procure to Pay )
* Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document business requirements
* Facilitate workshops to collect business requirements. Map business requirements, processes and objectives; develops necessary product modifications to satisfy business' needs.
* Design, customize, configure and testing of FI/CO modules. Identify gaps, issues and work around solutions. Act as liaison with business for troubleshooting: investigate, analyse, and solve software problems. Document functional designs, test cases and results. Proactively identify and propose business process and/or system enhancements
* Provide consulting services on both new implementations and existing support projects. Act as a liaison between the business functions and the technical team.
* Accountable for the quality of the SAP financial solution delivered. Ensure that there is very minimal change to the template so as to avoid unnecessary project costs and resources and that all the requirements of the Change Management Process are met, including following the relevant standards for testing, transports and documentation. Minimize costs associated with customizations.
* Look for alternative approaches to SAP custom development in collaboration with SAP and SI. Determine what functionality is required in terms of design, structure and configuration, in line with internal guidelines and procedure, in order to translate the IT requirements into an optimum IT solution. Keep solution as close to standard SAP as possible.
* Train SAP Super users, Business process owners and business process leads.
* Scope and estimate business requirements. Work with business process leads and users to gather requirements for reports and application extensions
* Conduct technical overviews and software capability demonstrations for business process owners and leads as required and train SAP Super users, business process owners and business process leads.

Responsibilities

* Conduct technical overviews and software capability demonstrations for business process owners and leads as required and train SAP Super users, business process owners

and business process leads.


* Guide the business in utilizing platform functionality to the best extent possible, including the review of business processes and system integration challenges
* Escalate issues to Sr. SAP Manager

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in finance and/or computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.
* Proven business acumen in Finance and controlling functions
* 8 plus years of SAP experience across multiple end--‐to--‐end implementations, with at least 3 as FICO lead or Functional Integration lead. Experience in FI integration points with other SAP modules like MM, HR, PP and PM.
* SAP Functional configuration expertise in General Ledger (FI--‐GL), Controlling (CO), Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Asset Accounting, (AA), Project Systems (PS) Profitability Analysis (PA), New GL, Budgeting Planning & Consolidations (BPC) and Cash Management
* Solid communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with business stakeholders and development teams and to make project presentations
* Excellent time--‐management skills and ability to plan ahead for scheduled tasks
* Ability to train a non-technology audience
* Thorough understanding of the project life cycle from requirements definition through post Implementation Support
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Extremely proficient in the use of MS Office products such as Project, Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
* Must be results oriented, and demonstrate "can do" attitude - adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness
* Critical thinker with good judgment and initiative
* Strong attention to detail
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment
* Willingness to work outside of normal business hours to meet program milestones and travel on occasion
* Experience in collaboration in a matrix--‐managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups
