POSITION SUMMARY

The F5 Network Engineer will provide technical leadership in the architecture, design, engineering, implementation, security, and management of the enterprise-wide F5 technology platform. This individual will be part of an engineering team responsible for overall architecture and its implementation, prioritization of projects, and interfacing with stakeholders. The position will also be responsible for substantial network planning and design focused on new solutions along with efficient and effective growth and expansion. Strategic planning of active/active architectures, multiple data center integration, and DR and resiliency. Candidate must have F5 Operations and Engineering experience with multiple F5 solutions in an enterprise environment. Must have experience in data networking, working with application development teams and communicating effectively with various departments and technical skill sets within an organization. A strong awareness of Security and data traffic flow control is desired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Participate in content delivery environment build activities including creation of virtual servers, profiles, encryption policies, and iRules.
* Works closely with technology teams to implement reliable, manageable, and secure solutions.
* Identifies performance issues, interprets trends (e.g., traces of network traffic), and implements improvements
* Writes documentation, including policies and procedures. Creates diagrams, including network designs.
* Completes capacity planning activities, including monitoring and tracking capacity metrics.
* Identifies opportunities to automate manual system tasks
* Strategizes in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture to develop and implement all relevant guiding principles, reference architecture, and standards effectively creating a technical infrastructure that helps achieve Company business objectives.
* Applies strong knowledge of data communications principles, architectures and protocols including TCP/IP, routing, switching, WAN and Ethernet technologies to design and implement efficient network configurations.
* Provides advanced technical and operational escalation support to the Operations staff on network elements, internal processes, training requirements, vendor support, and network design and planning.
* Works collaboratively with the information security organization to assist in the detection and mitigation of vulnerabilities and security events.
* Works collaboratively with other engineering and architecture groups to implement standards and best practices and redesign/re-engineer components as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

* 8-12 years experience with a Bachelor's degree; 6-10 years of experience with a Master's degree: 4-8 years experience with a Ph.D; 14-18 years of experience with no Bachelor's degree.
* Familiar with F5 Architecture and comfortable with creating and managing multiple Partitions.
* Experience working hands on with F5 Viprion and various F5 BigIP Appliances.
* Fundamental knowledge of encryption to include HTTPS in a reverse and forward proxy environment.
* 5+ years Network Engineering experience.
* Experience in scripting languages such as Python, PERL, BASH, etc.
* Experience in creating and administering F5 iRules.
* Experience planning and implementing enterprise monitoring and configuring tools for the F5 platforms such as BIG-IQ.
* Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions.
