About the role

We offer an inspiring opportunity for a motivated individual to join an engaging interdisciplinary IT team which supports the Life & Health Business Unit. Your major task as an Expert Solution Engineer / Architect is to provide technical expertise on L&H global systems. Your focus will be on Architect, design, development & rollout of high-quality solutions and services. In this role, you will also be responsible for collaborating with global teams and outsourcing partners during all phases

The key responsibilities include:

* Be a strong software engineer & Solutions Architect exhibiting a real passion for high quality software design & development
* Produce extensible, maintainable, high-performing, quality systems in line with IT strategy and Swiss Re Group standards
* Collaborate with other teams in defining functionality and estimation
* Present and communicate design & implementation to various teams for review
* Contribute to technical research and feasibility studies of proposed tooling and software upgrades
* Provide application systems support to Testers and Application Support, following the Swiss Re control procedures
* Collaborate with other development teams in choosing the most appropriate technical solution
* Review the quality of project work, both in document and software form

About the Team:

We are looking for you as our new Expert Solution Engineer / Architect within the Life & Health IT Organization. The global Life & Health IT team is responsible for the design, architecture and engineering of all IT solutions within the Life & Health Reinsurance domain. You should have a passion for technology and enjoy realizing new solutions. You will work with colleagues from various regions who have top-notch experience and deep understanding of the (L&H) reinsurance business. In this role, you will be part of a diverse team within the larger Life & Health IT organization, and you will work closely with many business units and projects which will allow you to actively demonstrate your analytical, managerial, and communications skills.

About You

Ideally, you should have a background in software engineering and a University degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Be keen in identifying and realizing the benefits of specific digital and automation initiatives, DevOps and continuous improvement practices in general. Take personal accountability for the success of initiatives and of Swiss Re's business goals.

Technical Requirements:

* Must have 10 to 15 years in software development executing deeply complex IT projects
* Be an experienced IT professional with proven technical skills within the area of architectural design and technology delivery
* Strong working knowledge in J2EE technologies and various integration patterns
* Ability to solve technical, business, and/or process related challenges through infrastructure-as-a-service or platform-as-a-service
* Depp Understanding of Operation Management Technologies - Log Aggregation, Server Monitoring, Process Monitoring, Application Monitoring
* Experience in System architecture, infrastructure configuration and deployment
* Experience in Application security and data protection
* Working experience or very deep understanding on Cloud Security: encryption methodologies, certificate management, etc.
* Exposure to deployment and functionality of container services (e.g.: Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Service)
* Demonstrated ability to execute on projects from start to finish with deep technical knowledge
* Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors as needed.
