Job Description

Overview

We're hiring a talented Expert Data Engineer for an important hands-on role. You will be part of a Data Team responsible for all aspects of data platform development. You will contribute to the full development life cycle of the solution, including analysis, design, application development, refactoring, ETL, code reviews, unit testing, functional test automation, performance tuning, deployment activities, and post-deployment support. As a member of the Data Team you'll implement detailed solutions from complex business requirements.

Responsibilities

* Collaborate in a highly agile scrum environment
* Implement KPI measures using relational data models and SQL-based data pipelines
* Author, test, and maintain clinical quality measures by implementing complex SQL queries
* Code review and provide constructive feedback on database changes from team members
* Work with DBA team to identify database and storage bottlenecks, propose design solutions, and tune queries
* Ensure correct source-to-target mappings and transformations between OLTP systems, data warehouses, and data marts
* Participate in story writing, grooming, and estimating level-of-effort

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

* 5+ years of full life cycle database development experience in a hands-on role, including writing stored procedures

Experience:

* Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for relational databases
* Strong understanding of data normalization
* Experience with complete software development life cycle-from concept to delivery
* Experience working with terabyte data sets, 100 million+ row tables, and high transaction volumes in an OLTP environment
* Experience reading query execution plans, optimizing queries, and designing proper indexes
* 1+ years experience using Python in production systems
* Experience using git, SVN, or other source control systems, including branching and merging
* Experience collaborating in an agile software development environment
* Self-starter with strong communication skills

Bonus:

* Experience in healthcare information technology
* Familiarity with CMS clinical quality reporting measures
* Dimensional data modeling experience
* Experience using Netezza, Yellowbrick, Redshift, Snowflake, Greenplum, Teradata or other MPP warehouse technology
* Experience with document data stores, such as MongoDB
* Experience with Jenkins or similar continuous integration systems
* Experience with FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare industry standards

Working Arrangements:

* Ability to travel as required, expected less than 5% travel
