Introduction:

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Enterprise Systems Security Engineer for the nation's most pressing cyber security challenges.

Job Summary:

Are you interested in making critical contributions that impact national security systems? JHU/APL's Enterprise Systems Group in the Asymmetric Operations Sector is seeking critical problem solvers with deep expertise in systems architecting and security engineering to tackle the nation's most pressing cyber security challenges. Opportunities exist on research/engineering teams staffed with world-class experts to develop resilient enterprise architectures capable of defending, detecting, and responding to advanced cyber attacks.

Play a major role in pursuing leading edge approaches to enterprise defense while advancing the science of systems security engineering, threat assessments, and risk analysis. Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):

1. Direct and conduct research to advance the science of systems security engineering, threat assessments, and risk analysis. Mature advanced cyber defense research through the creation of proof of concept solutions, experimentation, modeling and simulation techniques, and pilot deployments in operational networks. (45%)

2. Lead projects as a Technical Lead and/or Project Manager to develop and engineer resilient systems for operational Enterprise networks. (45%)

3. Share knowledge and expertise by collaborating with APL staff, engaging with Government stakeholders, and participation at conferences and in working groups. (10%)

Required Qualifications: PhD CS, CE, EE or related field with 3-5 years of experience. Experience with securing enterprise systems, evaluating cyber security threats, and designing/deploying operational networks. Detailed knowledge of enterprise security technologies and products. Excellent witten and oral communication skills. Position requires an ability to obtain a TS clearance.

Desired Qualifications: PhD CS, CE, EE or related field with 10 years of experience. Strong background in computer/network security concepts and technologies, including extensive knowledge of enterprise security operations and computer network vulnerabilities and exploits. Experience writing published papers and presenting results to conferences/workshops. An active Secret clearance and prior experience working with Government agencies.

Special Working Conditions: Local travel as needed.

Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
