SUMMARY

The Enterprise Data Administrator performs independently or as a key multi-functional team member in identifying, planning, developing, deploying, and communicating enterprise data management solutions that can involve multiple physical locations and business units. The position is primarily focused on building and administering a data management solution including backup & recovery, tiered storage, hyper-converged infrastructure and DR/COOP for a large enterprise datacenter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Interact with various functional areas to identify and document data requirements


* Analyze business needs to determine appropriate data management processes and environment. Work with system and business owners to identify data requirements and priorities.


* Coordinate with area managers, technical staff and executives to identify data management issues/trends for discussion.


* Contribute to the development and/or revision of Data Management SOPs and related documentation.


* Provide support for all enterprise data storage & management systems.


* Ensures compliance with data architecture and data management standards and procedures


* Analyze business needs to determine appropriate backup requirements.


* Plan, design, and implement new enterprise backup solutions that meet system maintenance schedules and recovery time objectives.


* Research and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance backup/recovery processes.


* Develop and maintain backup/recovery standard operating policies and procedures. Document all changes to the backup environment and follow the customer's Change Management process when requesting changes.


* Provide support for all enterprise backup servers and libraries. Ensure optimum performance and system availability of the backup infrastructure. Responsible for all backup and restore operations including management and monitoring of the backup, recovery, and restore policies and procedures. Provide enterprise backup administration for the Symantec Veritas Backup Exec application and Veritas Netbackup backup solution.


* Perform routine restore tests as assigned by the Data Center Manager. Manage all backup related activities to achieve maximum availability for all backup environments. Ensure all installed software in the backup environment is maintained and up to date with the latest releases for continued support.


* Perform work that supports a wide range of IT management activities including strategic planning, capital planning and investment control, workforce planning, policy and standards development, resource management, knowledge management, architecture and infrastructure planning and management, and auditing.


* Provide support for all DR/COOP activities.


* Analyze business needs to determine appropriate DR/COOP plan. Work with stakeholders to identify RTO targets and assign priorities. Work with DR team on development of COOP


* Analyze, evaluate, and/or make recommendations for improvement in the efficiency of internal processes, administrative operations, organizations, or management. Install, configure, and manage backup servers including backup/restoration, configuration, installation, capacity planning, troubleshooting, performance tuning and overall system administration functions.


* Implement and manage assigned delivery order projects, either independently or with assigned teams of programmers, trainers, and other information system and management professionals.


* Identify, organize, direct, coordinate, and report the status of planning and production of all activities associated with assigned delivery order projects.


* Initiate, implement, and/or oversee routine or as needed administrative and managerial project-related activities, including creating analysis and feedback tools, schedules, work plans, management reporting tools, testing plans, meeting planning and materials, training plans, web site content, and other related tasks.


* Plan, conduct and direct the analysis of IT problems, and provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and recommending IT systems solutions to specific situations to improve the efficiency of internal administrative operations, organizations, or management.


* Develop and maintain project plans and reporting requirements in accordance with customer direction for all assigned tasks.


* Aid in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.


* Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.


* Keep own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers.


* Report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.


* Immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

TECHNICAL SKILLS


* Minimum 7 years' experience with data storage systems and protocols.


* Minimum 3 years' experience with Disaster Recovery/Continuity of Operations Plans.


* Minimum 3 years' experience with Veritas BackupExec and NetBackup.


* Minimum 5 years' experience with standard backup practices.


* Familiar with disk-to-disk backup.


* Familiar with DeDupe technologies.


* Familiar with cloud backup technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS


* Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college or university is preferred and/or minimum of 5 years' experience with IT systems administration.


* Customer service skills and excellent communication skills (verbal, presentation, and written).


* A demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and Microsoft Project.


* ITIL V3/2011 Foundations


* Able to obtain a public trust security clearance.

AFHCM
