Bleacher Report is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated engineering leader to join it's team as an Engineering Manager over DevOps. This is a hands-on role managing a DevOps engineering team, working closely with our development & QA teams and operating and optimizing one of most trafficked and innovative sports properties in the world. A successful candidate will have a proven background leading a team of engineers, developing and growing people, technical experience building and supporting cloud-native applications, and a passion for technology and leadership.

What you'll do...

* Lead, manage and scale our DevOps teams. Invest in people! Helping engineers advance their skills and careers through one-on-ones, growth and development plans, and performance feedback


* Overall responsibility for Availability & Performance of the B/R user facing technical infrastructure on AWS


* Manage AWS budget, RI purchases across AWS services, manage SaaS vendor relationships


* Oversee the technical strategy, direction, effectiveness, and happiness of your teams


* Communicate with peers, senior leadership, and direct reports on progress against short and long-term goals


* Work with engineering leads & QA to reinforce strategies around process improvement



Experience you need...

* 2+ years of engineering management experience with a demonstrated track record of tactical execution and strong team building


* Minimum 7+ years in operations teams (DevOps, SRE, Cloud architecture, Systems engineering)


* Previous experience as a hands-on DevOps contributor in cloud based environment


* Deep technical expertise in two or more of the following: container orchestration of micro-services, RDBMS (Postgres, Mysql) or Columnar distributed-DB systems, In-memory caches, , Networking & Security, operating high traffic applications


* Programming language proficiency in at least one of : Python, Ruby, Go, Perl, Php


* Willingness to lead initiatives and a catalyst for change throughout the whole organization


* Exceptional verbal, written communication, and organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills that allow for collaboration across a diverse group of people


* B.S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
