Hughes has an exciting opportunity for a Network Security Engineer. This position will be located in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

* Defines, designs, and administers network security systems used for data communications and recommends improvements necessary to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company's high traffic, business critical internet production environment.
* Monitor for indications of compromise.
* Find vulnerabilities and propose remediation steps to critical business systems.
* Perform daily analysis and reporting on system logs and network traffic.
* Position requires on call support.

Basic Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Security or related field
* 1 year of experience in TCP/IP
* 1 year direct experience with IDS/IPS, firewall, or SEM/SIM tools

Preferred Qualifications

* InfoSec knowledge
* Knowledge of SANS or OWASP top vulnerability lists
* Technical certifications (i.e. GCIA, GCFW, or GCIH).
* Understanding of Linux, Windows server, shell scripting, Vulnerability Scanning, XSS/SQL injection or database attacks are all a plus.
* Familiarity with ISO 17799, PCI, or SOC2 Type 2 audit standards is also desirable.
