What you'll be doing...

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer - Network Assurance is responsible for the advanced installation, operation, and maintenance of switching, data communications, and peripheral equipment associated with the Mobile Switching Center (MSC). Maintaining system applications; ensuring quality customer service; and providing support to a varied user community; updating systems with site-specific information; and composing clear and concise reports for system documentation. The System Engineers are expected to perform their duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.

Resolves equipment and softwareissues, perform upgrades, configure and administers multiple vendor systems. Coordinates installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities (OC48, OC3, DS3, DS1) as well as Ethernet back-haul circuits. Support cellular growth projects by creating a wide range of router files for various router and switching platforms and installation and integration files for the Ericsson 4G eNodeB Base Bands and Radio equipment. Performing various integration and post integration processes and task associated with those devices.

Qualifications

Minimum Associates degree, 2-year technical degree, relevant military experience, equivalent special electronics training, or equivalent work experience is required.

Minimum 3 year experience plus electronics training in one or more of the following fields: telecommunications (cellular or landline) switching systems or experience in LAN/WAN operations and IP connectivity is preferred.

Knowledge of and experience in the operations, maintenance, configurations and trouble resolution of the following MSC based equipment. Nokia 7750 and 7705 routers and switches, Cisco 6500 and Fujitsu fiber-optic equipment (4500, 7500, 9500), as well as DC power systems is required. Demonstrate knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, Frame Relay, ATM, OSPF, BGP, SS7, MPLS, Session-Initiated-Protocol, Mobile-IP other LAN/WAN protocols is required.

Knowledge of and experience in the Ericsson 4G cellular infrastructure its operations, maintenance, configurations and the integration of and trouble resolution of Ericsson's eNodeB is also required.

Knowledge of and experience in the Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) 1X and 3G cellular infrastructure its operations, maintenance, configurations and trouble resolution. Including the following systems…5ESS, ECP, MMC-AP, 1X/EVDO-APs, OMC-RAN, and OMP also Tellabs 5500 and 532 cross-connect systems is desired.

Demonstrate knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, Frame Relay, ATM, OSPF, BGP, SS7, MPLS, Session-Initiated-Protocol, Mobile-IP other LAN/WAN protocols is required.

General knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment is required.

Experience and knowledge of Ethernet Backhaul over Fiber Optic circuits (1G/10G/100G) along with other transmission facilities (OC48, T3, T1, and DSO) is required. General knowledge in the use of transmission testing equipment is required.
