Job Description

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join the Surface EW team at APL.

We are seeking algorithm development and data analysis expertise to help us define, analyze, and improve the Navy's current and future surface EW capabilities. Our team consists of staff with a wide range of technical backgrounds working to the advance the Navy's electronic surveillance, electronic attack, and weapon coordination capabilities. As a member of our team, you will help develop and implement solutions to EW problems that will help ensure our nation's preeminence in the 21st century.

As part of the APL Surface EW team:

* Your primary responsibility will be analyzing EW technical data to influence the design and characterize the performance Navy EW systems and subsystems.
* You will collaborate with colleagues across APL and the greater Navy surface EW team to define EW analysis tasks, to include: threat characteristics, combat system behavior, and softkill system performance metrics.
* You will perform analysis tasks using data from electronic surveillance, electronic attack, and softkill scheduling systems.
* You will participate in internal APL working groups to vet analysis procedures and processes, and share analysis results with task sponsors and technical peers across multi-organization Navy surface EW teams.
* You will help produce documentation to capture analysis precepts and process, analysis results, characterization of system performance, and recommendations for system improvements.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

* Hold or can obtain an active Secret level security clearance.
* Hold a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or other technical field.
* Have at least 2 years of experience conducting data analysis to inform system design decisions or validate system performance, including but not limited to the use of data reduction techniques, statistical methods, and predictive analytics.
* Are proficient at using Matlab for data analysis and visualization.
* Have the ability to work independently and with multi-organization design and analysis teams.
* Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

* Hold an active Top Secret clearance
* Hold a Master's degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or other technical field.
* Have at least 5 years of experience conducting data analysis to inform system design decisions or validate system performance, including but not limited to the use of data reduction techniques, statistical methods, and predictive analytics.
* Have a high-level understanding of electronic warfare principles, U.S. Navy surface ship radar and electronic surveillance systems, and the Aegis or SSDS combat systems.
* Are proficient in C or Python.
