Job Description

Company:Oliver Wyman

Description:

Draw is a digital agency within Oliver Wyman that believes in making things better. The team is based in London with 50 professionals. We help fans around the world explore their love of music. We help lawyers in London beat news outlets to the punch. We help consultants in New York find the next generation of game changers. We help charities in Africa better communicate how they're saving children from disease. Everything we do - from building websites to enhancing customer relationships - is driven by a rigorous strategic approach based on our client's core business goals. We focus on outcomes, not outputs.

The Opportunity:

Draw wishes to begin operations in the USA and grow a team in New York and Boston. It is envisaged that over time New York will represent ⅔ of the team and Boston ⅓ team by headcount. Many agencies have a team of hybrids, responsible for both the client service and project management tasks within a digital agency. This role seeks to break out of that discipline and focus on the project management aspects.

Progression:

The typical progression for a Delivery Lead is to develop the junior team and the business in order to grow. With that comes further opportunity to establish better processes and expand the structure; therefore, gaining more autonomy and more responsibility as we grow.

Your Background:

The role sits within the Client Delivery Team. As a Delivery Lead, your role is to ensure the agency executes projects successfully. You'll need to have a strong focus on effective planning, understand AGILE, be able to establish good processes and ways of working. You will also need to know how to drive a project in the right direction.

Project Delivery:

You'll be setting up and overseeing the running of projects, as well as eventually mentoring and guiding others on the team to improve and develop. We're a fast-growing agency, so we'll need you to be proactive and contribute to the growth by improving the way we work and how we deliver our projects.

Communication Skills:

One of the key requirements of this role is outstanding communication skills; you will need to have an ability to flex your style to build strong relationships, both internally and externally. You need to be affable, approachable and able to liaise with a variety of stakeholders. You'll have experience in delivering a wide variety of digital projects from big Web platform builds to business tools. You will be able to challenge clients' thinking in the right way, without creating friction.

Project Management:

You'll be planning and managing a project with lots of moving parts, potentially across multiple projects. You'll need to be able to familiarize yourself with the detail of a project, plan appropriately and identify and recommend the right team requirements. The business responds well to early recognition of blockers and challenges and working through problems as a team. You'll have a lot of experience in delivering AGILE projects - either DSDM or SCRUM. Through this, you'll know how to establish and set acceptance criteria. You'll know how to work through a backlog or a prioritised requirements list and apply a MoSCoW rating. You'll have enough experience to know when we need to evolve the processes to suit different projects and requirements. Fundamental to your success will be the successful management of resource requirements. Experience in using JIRA and other project management tools will be essential.

Requirements Management:

Developing technical solutions to resolve a business problem, or to advance a company's sales efforts, begins with eliciting, defining, analysing and documenting requirements. Managing requirements at the project level will help fulfil business needs. The requirements you gather will be used to drive the design and design of a project's scope, acceptance, installation and deployment.

Team Work:

We are looking for people who can add value to clients and projects whilst working closely with the teams delivering it. Being able to find a balance between working autonomously and within the team will be a big contributing factor to how successful you are in this role. Being supportive, considerate, guiding and respectful in your approach will gain good ground within the agency.

You'll have to manage to work closely with the client team in order to deliver the project in the best way. This will involve creating a solution, delivery and management approach as part of a project team. This will cascade into managing the outputs of multi-disciplinary teams within the agency. In order to achieve this, you will need the ability to delegate project tasks internally.

Eventually, your role may require you to be responsible for training and mentoring junior members of the team.

Reporting:

Effective management of budgets against resource and reporting is part and parcel of the project manager's role. You'll need to have excellent reporting experience in order to demonstrate value to our clients. Part of this will involve conducting weekly reconciliations against budget vs actuals.
