Job Description

This Documentation Manager has primary responsibility for managing team members and processes related to creating and maintaining client-facing product documentation for RealPage products. This includes online Help, user guides, migration guides, and Getting Started Guides, Training Guides, as well as other collateral product documentation. The Documentation Manager is involved in the complete development cycle, including analysis, design, writing, graphics development, and editing, as well as ongoing maintenance. This position requires an individual that is technically-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Proven success in managing projects and motivating teams is required. This is a highly collaborative role that engages with various business units within RealPage, including executive leadership, stakeholders, subject matter experts, business analysts, consultants, and programmers.

What you will be doing:

* Manage and prioritize current and future documentation projects for local and remote Documentation team members
* Develop project plans with management and business unit stakeholders to establish and meet delivery deadlines
* Define and set goals and expectations for Documentation team members
* Motivate and influence the team to successfully meet goals and initiatives with the assistance of management
* Review, hire, and train employees
* Facilitate meetings, both internally with the team, and with products, related teams, and divisions within RealPage
* Manage planned documentation releases in conjunction with software releases
* Evaluate deliverables to identify gaps and develop processes ensure completeness and accuracy
* Monitor staff utilization to ensure proper resource allocation
* Innovate solutions to improve existing processes and deliverables
* Collaborate with leadership team and editor to address issues or gaps in procedures, standards, and staff performance
* Participate in peer review and editing processes
* Assemble regular status and utilization reporting to leadership team

What we think it takes:

* BA in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related discipline. Equivalent experience may be acceptable
* Proven leadership experience with a deadline-driven team
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
* Advanced understanding of standard English grammar as well as accepted standards for technical communications
* Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
* Extensive knowledge of Author-it or similar single-source documentation applications
* Ability to manage local and remote team members
* Proven ability to motivate team towards desired goals and exceptional performance
* Ability to manage numerous projects within strict deadlines
* Demonstrated technical acuity and attention to detail
* Advanced RealPage product knowledge a strong plus
* Real estate experience a strong plus
* Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to twice annually
* Minimum 6 years experience in software systems documentation, including both online and hard-copy documentation
* Minimum 3 years management experience, preferably within a software development organization
