Team Description

Digital ML is the data science and machine learning team inside Capital One's Digital Products organization. We deliver real-time, personalized, intelligent customer experiences in Capital One's suite of award-winning digital products, including our website, mobile app, emails, chatbot, and beyond. We partner closely with our product and engineering teams to build the data and modeling platforms crucial to the deep understanding of customers that enables our applications to delight them by adapting to their needs.

Role Description

As a leader in Digital ML, you will:

* Build and lead multiple teams of data scientists, providing technical oversight and mentorship on modeling and analytical projects in areas like detecting trends and patterns in customer behavior, optimizing digital marketing and servicing initiatives, and developing real-time models for personalization.


* Partner with diverse stakeholders, including product management, risk management, engineering, and business verticals; provide thought leadership within and outside of the team; contribute to the product roadmap for key data platforms; and drive innovation across the company in the use of digital data.

* Statistically-minded. You have built models, validated them and backtested them. You know how to interpret a confusion matrix or a ROC curve. You have experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series analysis and deep learning.


* Customer and product oriented. You share our passion for changing banking for good.



Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's Degree plus 6 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD plus 4 years of experience in data analytics
* At least 3 years' coding experience with open source programming languages such as Python, R or Scala
* At least 3 years' experience developing commercial data science solutions leveraging one or more of the following: operations research, natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, video/image analysis, or time-series analysis.
* At least 2 years' experience managing high-functioning data science/data engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree or Ph.D. in a "STEM" Major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
* At least 1 year experience working with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platform
* At least 5 years' experience developing commercial solutions in Python, Scala, or R
* At least 5 years' experience developing commercial data science solutions leveraging one or more of the following: operations research, natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, video/image analysis, or time-series analysis.
* At least 3 years of experience mentoring junior data scientists and providing technical governance and oversight
