The NBA runs numerous web sites and digital products that generate fan interest around the world. International League Pass is one of the NBA's best-in-class products available in over 215+ countries that allows fans live and archive access to games from the preseason through the NBA Finals. Whether it be for the NBA, WNBA, G League or 2K League millions of people visit sites, engage with mobile apps, and view our content across multiple platforms.

Continuing its role as a digital leader in media, the Digital Product Development team will develop and deliver a number of strategic digital product initiatives, including the launch of the digital home of the groundbreaking NBA 2K League. We are looking for a candidate that can serve as a technology manager within our development team, overseeing all aspects of technical leadership for our digital products, including, but not limited to, Wordpress themes and plugins for the NBA, NBA 2K, WNBA, G League, Mobile and International markets. This will include the oversight of "state-of-the-art", mobile first, database and feed driven digital products and APIs to support the various leagues and their products. The ideal candidate for this role be an effective communicator, lead the team in achieving its strategic goals, manage projects on time and budget, and be able to effectively find solutions to issues that may arise.

Major Responsibilities

* Provide technical oversight (development, operations) for the suite of NBA and Affiliate League digital products.
* Partnering with Product and Content Teams, gather business requirements and design technical solutions to meet those needs
* Support new vendor onboarding by providing written feedback to technical and business constituents as necessary
* Understand and modify existing systems as business requirements and consumer behaviors change
* Collaborate, educate and improve understanding with all technical teams, translating product requirements into technical plan.
* Developing and managing requirements for new features/enhancements in JIRA or other
* Thinking through all the edge cases when writing clear epics, user stories, tickets
* Mastering the day-to-day-management (grooming, backlog, etc.) of the Agile board
* Testing (not QA) newly developed features
* Giving demos of new features to internal teams for feedback and educational purposes
* Working closely with customers, client services, and design to ensure nothing 'slips'
* Supporting and learning from senior product managers
* Executing on several projects concurrently while balancing shifting priorities
* Making decisions based on logic, data, prioritization, and your judgment
* Respond to and work with technical resources to isolate and resolve system issues
* Provide after hours and weekend support for production systems when needed

Required Skills/Knowledge

* Technical expertise (in PM or Developer role) supporting launches of new web-based digital products or rolling out new features for existing products, preferably in the WordPress ecosystem
* Strong knowledge web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS
* Strong knowledge of web server technologies (i.e. Apache) and web proxies (i.e. Varnish)
* Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services inclusive of Lambda, S3 and other micro-services
* Working knowledge of Wordpress, including themes and plugins
* Proven track record of getting things done, handling multiple tasks including communication with internal and external teams while consistently delivering on schedule.
* Understanding of SDLC and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
* Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
* Confirmed ability to adapt your message to the technical level of the audience, and capacity to communicate technical materials to small groups with ease.
* A deep understanding of business strategy in a fast-growing, large scale environment.
* Independently driven, inventive, and able to deliver results with minimal direction.
* Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, product managers, and senior business leaders.

Experience Needed

* 5+ years of web-based technical product management experience (or equivalent).
* 3+ years of experience working in the field of web and mobile-web development.
* 3+ years of working in an Agile (Scrum) product (mobile, web, tablet) environment.

Educational Background Required

* BS in computer science, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred
