The DevOps Engineer role is a high visibility role at Credit Karma that requires a balance of communication, teamwork, technical understanding of applications/systems, and follow through to make lasting impact on process and procedures.

Your role will be to improve automation, tools, processes, and communications related to running systems and applications. The DevOps/Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for taking the complicated world of site operations and making it easy for teams to run reliable and performant services.

What you'll do:

* Design, code, and evolve the core PaaS offerings on which CK's applications are developed and runWrite code and integrate with frameworks and open-source tools such as service discovery and orchestration
* Perform technical design and code reviews to ensure best practices for services
* Develop best practices for deploying and operating microservices in production environment and train teams to imbibe these best practices in their devops culture
* Drive resolution for all high severity issues impacting all systems and services
* Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the company to develop and own improvements across the organization
* Responsible for the completion of incident retrospective/post-mortem reviews
* Be available to participate with fellow Credit Karma employees in an on-call rotation

What kind of experience are we looking for?

* 4+ years of professional experience in server-side website development
* Strong coding skills in a language such as Scala, PHP, Java, Go, Python, Ruby
* Solid understanding of large-scale web application system architectures running on Linux
* Experience with Docker, service discovery, and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
* Experience with a configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, Chef
* Experience working with large-scale service-oriented production environments
* Experience with AWS or GCP a plus
* Strong incident management skills and domain knowledge with the ability to apply them in devops centric environment
* Someone who can easily communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues in high-pressure situations
