DevOps Engineer

Our Enterprise Customer Intelligence team is building the next generation of real-time, data-driven services that power machine-learning capabilities to our digital products. These services serve insights that drive key decision making at Capital One. The team is still in growth mode as we build out the foundational technology and features.

We are looking for an experienced CI/CD engineer in an individual contributor role to help with:

* Our code management practices as well as the build/release processes. Help establish best practices,
* Building/improving common parts of our devops pipelines (across all our applications), establish a community of practice within ECI for devops
* Mentor/code-review less experienced devops ICs reporting into his/her partner teams within ECI.

This engineer will be hands on reviewing and writing code 80% of the time, and 20% coordinating/mentoring. We are hiring this person because our organization has multiple, independent deployment pipelines that need consolidation or resiliency upgrades.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with multiple development teams and lead CI/CD implementations
* Build CI/CD automation for current and future software applications
* Mentor less experienced engineers and lead by example
* Raise the bar for technical excellence

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 2 years of coding in one of the scripting languages (Python, Perl, Groovy or Ruby)
* At least 2 years of application development experience
* At least 3 years of experience with code management (git or cvs)
* At least 3 years of experience with build automation (Jenkins, CircleCI or TeamCity)
* At least 1 year of experience working with AWS cloud

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current hands on scripting experience
* Exposure to CloudFormation and Terraform
* Exposure to Orchestration tools like Chef, Puppet, and Ansible
* Experience working with containers like Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with Micro services architecture
* Excellent written and oral communication
* Open source contributions
