Job Description

PeerStream, Inc., is a dynamic, fast-paced technology company building innovative decentralized technologies that power multimedia social apps and business communication solutions worldwide. The Company is currently developing PeerStream Protocol ("PSP"), a decentralized multimedia content delivery solution building on blockchain technology. PSP will form the core of a technology platform that supports the Company's portfolio of social video applications and the newly formed business solutions group created to serve the blockchain adoption needs of corporate clients. The Company's app portfolio features Paltalk, which hosts one of the world's largest collections of video-based social communities, and Backchannel, a blockchain-based secure video messaging app. The Company has a long history of technology innovation and holds 26 patents. We are seeking a results-oriented DevOps Engineer to scale our team as we grow. You will own production preparation of new functionalities in our ever-evolving complex global real-time messaging system focused on enterprise-grade high availability and performance. If you are a Systems Thinking, Production DevOps Engineer who has helped teams scale through production insights, operational automation, developer guidance, real-time metrics, automation, automation, automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Build and maintain the network and system infra needed to scale and support our growing customer base
* Infrastructure as Code: Build and own tooling & Automate the infra necessary to deliver metrics from production environments, deploy releases to production environments, and manage multiple versions of multiple microservices operating in tandem to produce a fully functional system
* Share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* With 3-5 years working on cloud infrastructure supporting production services
* You have strong experience building, deploying and operating apps/services within Cloud Infrastructures such as Google Cloud, AWS or something similar
* Have solid networking experience and understanding of network protocols, VPN, DNS and load balancing
* Experience with Docker, and other container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
* With proficiency writing automation scripts with Bash, Ruby or Python, etc.
* Has experience setting up monitoring and alerting on cloud-based services
* Demonstrated philosophy of automating your way out of repetitive operational work
* Experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python, Go, Perl, Ruby or shell scripting
* Ability to learn new software, frameworks and APIs
* You have in-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and have hands on operational experience
* Experience building and operating log aggregation, tracing, metrics aggregation, and alerting systems that aid in diagnosing and understanding what is going on in complex microservice environments
* Experience operating and implementing distributed & highly concurrent service based architectures, including microservices, containerized services, and/or serverless architectures
* Experience in fast-paced, iterative design environments such as consumer internet or mobile applications/gaming industries

ATTRIBUTES & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Interest in customer-first mentality with focus on recovery before diagnosis, but ensuring sufficient information is available to properly diagnose incidents for future mitigation/system improvement
* You prefer to build self-healing & self-monitoring systems with appropriate instrumentation & metrics allowing the org to reach operational scale with minimized burden to on-call operations
* Demonstrated expertise in designing, analyzing & trouble shooting large-scale distributed systems, systematic problem-solving, effective communication and follow up with ownership of incident management
* You have dealt with applications and tools in a container ecosystem and know how to monitor, log and graphically view this type of infrastructure
* You collaborate with other team tasks sharing your knowledge and improve the code others have written to achieve the deliverables
