DevOps Engineer

We are working diligently to make our migration to the cloud! Capital One is seeking a talented thinker and hands-on Senior Software Engineer who can envision next generation software innovations that will deliver a rich, engaging and unmatched customer experience. In this role, you will design and develop cutting-edge experiences for Capital One customers, using existing and emerging technology platforms. You will be responsible for documenting design decisions and developing DevOps solutions while adhering to existing process guidelines. You will also act as mentor to junior developers, support innovation in infrastructure architecture, QA automation, and will have oversight during implementation into production. You will share your skills and knowledge of cloud technologies to help make the journey into the growing cloud footprint at Capital One.

You will:

* Be responsible for the day to day operations of all in-house developed, open source, and commercial DevOps tooling owned by the team (Ensuring pipeline and infrastructure development, system availability, performance, capacity, and monitoring).
* Develop procedures to automate various systems and tasks (e.g. automating code builds and deployments) using Jenkins, Groovy, Git, Docker, Terraform, Chef or Ansible.
* Execute system administration of hosting platforms capable of running on a variety of frameworks in Java on cloud infrastructures.
* Develop and promote new DevOps tools to simplify build process and entire continuous delivery pipeline, chaos engineering, participate in internal & external technology communities.
* Employ innovative and secure solutions and architecture to ease developer and testing experience.
* Be coding and trouble shooting using tools like Groovy, Python, or Ruby.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 2 years of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
* At least 2 years of experience in Build and CI/CD/CT technologies
* At least 2 years of experience in Linux Shell Scripting

Preferred Qualifications:

* 4+ years of experience with Groovy, Python or Ruby
* 4+ years experience with Docker, ECS or Kubernetes
* 4+ years of experience with Chef or Ansible
* AWS or Java Certification
