What you'll be doing...

Verizon Wireless, Network Device Evaluation and Performance team is the single point of ownership for Technical Approval (TA) of devices from all channels (e.g., Branded, Open Development/Machine-to-Machine, Open Market, Enterprise, Wholesale, LRA, Telematics, Modules, Chipsets). The Device Test Engineer will apply a deep understanding of wireless device architecture, feature functionality, network device interaction scenarios, and device requirements to perform testing and final validation of devices before they are approved to operate on Verizon Wireless network. Responsibilities associated with this position include:

* Technical leadership and testing.
* End-to-end test life cycle management of traditional, and non-traditional, wireless devices employing LTE, legacy, and 5G wireless access technologies for multiple devices simultaneously.
* Execute automated testing using all common test equipment (e.g., Apirent, Agilent, R&S, Comprion, Anritsu) and measurement equipment in standard and non-standard configurations.
* Creating partnerships with device vendors, test equipment vendors, and internal teams to identify and develop testing solutions for the overall success of the business.
* Contributing as part of a cross-functional team member to Verizon device requirements and test plan development and apply the knowledge to pinpoint bugs and non-conformance.
* Identify problems quickly and working with device manufactures and internal teams to resolves issues with a sense of urgency to meet target launch dates and business commitments.
* Using issue tracking systems and tools to reporting document test results.
* Communicating internally and externally in a clear and concise manner.
* Lead teams and sub-teams without losing focus on individual contributions and deliverables.
* Reacting quickly to customer issues by helping to reproduce problems in the lab and/or in the field by working closely with post launch and field test teams.
* Leading root cause analysis on device issues, and when appropriate, implementing improvement plans based on lessons learned.
* Identifying and implementing tools and systems for test tracking, issues reporting, and metrics development.
* Working closely with Device Marketing and OEM to develop software and hardware approval plan for the owned device and schedule testing according to Lab priority queue.
* Generating and presenting status reports at project meetings and weekly calls.
* Generating test metrics and issues report for management review.
* Coordinating and lead debugging sessions with the OEM/ODM
* Tracking and reporting issues through Lab Management System and bug tracking databases.
* Coordinating and hosting meeting with vendors and internal teams as needed to create agreements, communicate issues, and provide status updates.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

* Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
* Four or more years of relevant work experience.
* A valid driver's license.

Even better if you have:

* A degree.
* A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Understanding of test management databases systems, preferably CRM and HPQC/ALM.
* Three or more years of experience in wireless devices and network infrastructure testing employing LTE and legacy 3G.
* Experience in leading and coordinating technical projects, preferably in wireless device/network testing.
* Experience in test tracking tools and issues reporting systems.
* Experience in following process and contributing to process improvements.
* Strict adherence to quality and familiarity with quality management systems.
* Experience in GSM/UMTS/CDMA/EVDO/LTE/5G diagnostic monitoring and debugging tools (e.g., QXDM, CAIT, LLDM, Ethereal).
* Understanding of all common PC operating systems including Windows, Mac, Unix and common mobile Operating Systems (Android & iOS.).
* Experience in wireless standards and industry organizations (e.g., 3GPP, 3GPP2, ETSI, CCF, PTCRB, GSMA, GCF).
* Knowledge of test systems and test automation environment for effective use of automated testing.
* Skill in Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
* Self-motivated, with strong technical leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent team building skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Project management skill.
* Excellent understanding of SDLC.
* Willingness to travel up to 25%.
