Job Description

In the Development Manager role, you'll be responsible for driving technical decisions, a pillar for sound quality and architecture and a mentor and leader for your team. We're looking for passion, smarts and a good personality to work in a high collaborative, tight knit organization. Experience working across the infrastructure, web services, and front-end stack in a distributed architecture is a bonus, as well as a track record of collaborating with a multitude of teams spread across the globe.

This position requires depth and breadth of knowledge in SW architecture, agile methodologies and has mastery of programming languages with experience building highly scalable systems involving distributed services and databases. You will own the design of major deliverables end-to-end, working closely and helping guide the activity of multiple developers and teams.

Responsibilities

* Design and build tooling and infrastructure to help engineering teams measure and increase their velocity
* Design, develop, document, and thoroughly test your code, while encouraging and fostering the same practices in your team members
* Prototype creative solutions quickly, and be able to take a project from prototype to production quality
* Be responsible for team performance and clearing obstacles.

Qualifications

* BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
* Creative, practical, and willing to explore lots of avenues and options because you work on features that really can't be cut
* Enjoy working as part of a team, while leading the team
* 7+ years industry experience writing code and have a passion for solving complex problems.
* 4+ years of leading software development teams in an Agile environment
* Prototype creative solutions quickly, and be able to take a project from prototype to production quality
* Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong conceptual understanding of systems and coding logic.
* Strong PHP coding or similar. MySQL or other database-driven application development. HTML.
* Linux administration, MySQL administration, JavaScript, basic network configuration.
* Understand and implement SOLID software development practices and the ability to teach and ensure their use across a team.
* Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts, data structure, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)
* Ability to logically and systematically search for the source of a problem, diagnose the issue and work across the team to solve

Preferred Skills

* Experience working in microservices architecture
* Competence with virtualization tools and technology - docker a plus
* Experience and proficiency in: PHP, Java, modern front-end JS libraries, MySQL, HTML+CSS
* Experience with Cloud Technologies. AWS preferred.
* Experence working in a Continuous Integration environment
