Developer Database

Position Summary

The Developer Database performs design, development, testing, and documentation of sophisticated applications for a major New York based airline. This role involves research, analysis, database architecture/design and implementation in line with our commitment to develop and maintain innovative and scalable enterprise database solutions which provide value to the business.

Essential Responsibilities

* Involves throughout the SDLC with an emphasis on delivery


* Primarily code in SQL Integration/Analysis/Reporting Services both on perm and in cloud environments.


* Development of innovative, high quality, highly scalable ETLs and easily supportable database integration solutions for the enterprise.


* Designed and created Data Marts/Cubes and business reports


* Collaborate with database architects and leadership to create and maintain development standards and best practices. Mentor and coach junior database developers.


* Works with database architects and project managers to write, revise and finalize user specifications, technical detail design documentation, and other descriptive documentation that may support database solutions


* Participates in periodic code reviews to ensure high quality and consistent coding practices


* Partner with Datacenter Operations and System Managers to ensure proper documentation and "run books" are developed for Database Administrators.


* Develop Batch data load to Azure cloud using Databricks


* Schedule Data load job in cloud using Azure Data Factory


* Data load to Azure BLOB from Real time JSON document like Cosmos


* Blob trigger to identify new files to start Data Factory job


* Scala language to load batch files


* Automated built in Unit test code to support CI/CD pipeline


* Other duties as assigned



Minimum Experience and Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Information Systems, Mathematics or computer science or related discipline; and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through at least four (4) years of previous experience and education.


* Three (3) year of previous database development experience building and maintaining large-scale data enterprise preferred.


* Experience in MS SQL Server, SQL programming.


* Experience with relational databases and data access methods.


* Previously implemented data integrations and transfers.


* Good communicator and team player


* Ability to prepare accurate and "user-friendly" technical specifications and documentation


* Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision.


* Proven ability to mentor new associate developers.


* Ability to work effectively with all levels and in diverse environments


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills


* Ability to work in a high-pressure environment


* Ability to rapidly resolve issues and recognize when escalation is necessary


* Effective time management and prioritization skills


* Positive, upbeat energy and strong team player


* Strong interpersonal skills


* Excellent problem solving and structured thinking skills


* Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test


* Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located



Preferred Experience and Qualifications

* Proficient knowledge and hands on experience with such technologies as .Net, TFS, and SQL development tools.


* Experience in SQL services including Integration, Analysis and reporting services.


* Experience with various database and cloud technologies is a plus


* Knowledge and experience with XML, CSV, Data Schema with regards to the implementation of data transfer


* Experience with data warehouse design patterns.


* Ability to gather business requirements, defines technical specifications, and translates them into a solid system design.


* Ability to objectively evaluate alternative system designs and communicate benefits and tradeoffs


* Ability to select and apply elements of the database design framework to efficiently develop robust database solutions

* Regular attendance and punctuality


* Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice


* Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance


* When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
