Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Deskside Support Technician to support and maintain in-house technology equipment and IT assets. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading of all servers, hardware and equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. Troubleshoot server issues and PC components, and support replacement of hard drives, CD-ROMS, and NICS problems in a timely and accurate fashion. Provide end user training and assistance as required. Provide phone and in-person support to users in the areas of e-mail, directories, standard Windows desktop applications, and COTS and GOTS applications. Serve as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting server hardware/software, PC and printer problems. This position may require local travel to several customer sites.
Responsibilities:
* Helping to support a LAN/WAN system using TCP/IP connectivity in both classified and unclassified environment
* Coordinating and performing server/workstation installation
* Providing technical and software support to end-users
* Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot MS servers, NAS interfaces in an Active Directory environment
* Monitor daily system backups and ensure data replication to disaster/recovery sites
* Collaborate with other server engineers, users and client managers in identifying requirements, specifications and project planning activities
* Installing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and software
* Providing technical assistance and training to end-users
* Evaluating computer hardware and software. Including printer problems
* Maintaining and repairing servers, computers and peripherals
* Installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading ha and equipment while ensuring its optimal performance
* Troubleshooting problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion
* Providing end user training and assistance where required
* Providing reporting and trouble ticketing information
* Maintain working knowledge of products and/or services
* Prepares reports and correspondence as needed
* Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
* Management of IT assets and inventory control
Minimum Requirements
* College degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* Minimum of four years' of Helpdesk, Deskside, Server, and LAN/WAN experience
* Knowledge of Windows PC and server configuration and integration
* Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
* MCSC 2008 certification or equivalent experience
* Experience in troubleshooting server and PC issues
* Experience in troubleshooting network components between system segments and understanding of FTP, Traceroute, ping, Telnet, remote login, and other related commands
* Remote Desktop and SMS experience
* Understanding of networking technology at the physical (twisted pair, fiber optic) and logical (Ethernet,TCP/IP) level including the various supporting services and protocols (DNS, LDAP, NTLM, Kerberos, SMB,AFP)
* Proficiency in MS OS: Office 2013 and above, Win2008 and above, Enterprise tools for OS deployment, software distribution, back-up and disaster recovery, client setups for Applications
* Experience with Helpdesk systems, Remedy preferred
* Ability to react to high priority problem calls, and interface with a variety of VIPs and clients
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and the capability to produce detailed programmatic plans and resource assessments
* Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
* Valid Driver's License
* Secret clearance required, ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
