Job Description

Under general supervision from the IT (Information Technology) Director, develop business applications pertaining to Institute and Hospital and assist with network, software development, and system administration. Communicate and implement network, software, and system applications and procedures. Assist in the development of user training of newly developed applications. When required by the IT Director temporarily acts as department Network Coordinator and Computer Support Coordinator. The primary focus of the Application Systems Developer is to assist in the design, develop and maintain in-house applications and to integrate it with the in-house network and department requirements. Perform manual updates and use and create or modify downloads, scripts, and programs to integrate campus data and standard services. Suggest improvements and make changes as requested by the department and in cooperation with campus data providers. Document work, keep abreast of current standards, and coordinate ongoing server management and technique development. Act as coordinator and liaison for local information owners. Provide knowledge sharing to support client instruction and peer cross training. Provide help and backup to other team members in the computer labs and in the Solution Center. The manager will communicate with the IT Director to complete the job assignment as timely base and act as a senior Application/Database developer to design and identify application integration and implementation process. In addition to development and integration of applications, the manager is responsible for maintaining and consulting on current applications and network systems being used in the institute through applications development. Overall management of IT team (consists of 5 FTE) and followings in details:

Responsibilities

1. Desktop Manager:

a. Service Now Ticket Management

b. Special Services - VIP support; software installation/configuration

c. CareConnect - printer assignments and builds for CC computers

d. Provide backup for Tech Staff

e. Weekly Staff meetings - agenda items; clarify procedures/policy; demos

f. Computer Move coordination

g. Liaison with Space managers and room renovations/relocations

h. Work with IT Director on project implementation and completion

2. Project Management:

a. New Cable installation - Work with Space manager and ITS for walk-throughs Point of contact for scheduling, follow-ups and final cable documentation

b. Work with and advise users as to upcoming projects

c. Manage tech staff work group to implement projects

3. Documentation:

a. Network switches

b. Storage devices

c. SOP's for procedures

d. Encrypted devices - desktop and laptop Bitlocker/Filevault/Checkpoint

4. IPCN Cameras Management:

a. Primary and Secondary storage servers

b. Camera documentation

5. Network:

a. Maintain list of active switches

b. Maintain IP List of assigned private and public IP's for printers/devices

6. ClinNet Computers:

a. Request local computer logins

b. Add computer name to AD/ClinNet OU

c. Fix computer/printer problems

d. Configure replacement computers

e. Replace printer and assign IP if needed

7. Active Directory Management:

a. Add/modify/terminate user accounts

b. Reset user password/trouble-shoot login/lockout problems

c. Input new computer accounts

d. Run reports for current computers/users

e. Run reports for computers to be disabled

8. Manage lab computers :

a. Manage lab computers used by research participants

b. Manage research staff computers

c. Manage testing computer

d. Support for grad student computers - install, update, repair, etc.

e. Desktop/NAS/network support and installing testing programs

9. Encryption:

PGP Universal server - access to decrypt, get WRDT token, lookup computer names

10. Intern Orientation:

a. Main orientation on July 1 of all interns

b. Psychology interns and staff

Qualifications

At least five years of demonstrated experience in the developmental process of software applications. Demonstrated experience coding software in ASP, .Net, Java, ColdFusion, XML, Scrip languages, Visual Basic, C++. Detailed knowledge of Structure Query Language, SQL server; installing, configuring and administrating. Detailed knowledge of network communication protocols and topologies. In depth knowledge of Unix Platform, MAC OS, Windows operating systems, security features, protocols, registry, configuration settings and fine-tuning parameters; Knowledge of the internet protocols. Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are frequent changes in workload, assignments, deadlines, and competing requirements and workloads. Skill in communicating in non-technical terms regarding the use and operation of microcomputer hardware and software. Detailed knowledge of hosting forms and controlling database access on a multi-platform servers. Enthusiasm for researching and implementing new and open source technologies. Demonstrated interpersonal skills sufficient to work cooperatively and effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to prioritize tasks and projects. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Demonstrated experience in developing web-based intranet applications preferred. Experience working with scripting languages and designing databases preferred. Skill and experience in creating and providing training sessions for end-users preferred. Experience in staff management, university policies and procedures required.
