Job Description

The Last Mile team helps get customer packages from delivery stations to a customer's doorstep. Amazon has grown its Last Mile delivery efforts helping to speed up customer delivery times and provide new innovations to customers. The Last Mile design team is a key team for the organization to design and evaluate innovative solutions in package delivery applications, crowdsourced delivery service design, and delivery station design. The challenges range from building digital experiences to physical processes to service ecosystems that run Amazon's Global delivery network.

We are looking for a design technologist to build user interfaces and physical prototypes that bring life to the designs that represent the future of Amazon's Last Mile experience. You bring UX design and engineering expertise into a single discipline to develop and test prototypes of potential user experiences solutions. You will be responsible for creating prototypes of emerging experiences for testing with end-user research participants. You will prove UX concepts at a variety of fidelities, including working samples and reference code, throughout the design process. You are well versed in an appropriate mix of development and prototyping platforms and tools, and will select the best and most appropriate platform for the task. You will deliver code that is flexible and can be iterated upon, with an understanding of what to fake and what to make. The front-end interactions you bring to life will also inspire leaders to invest in new ideas, and guide developers in building the software.

As a design technologist on the team, you will:

* Actively participate in concept development and design iteration.
* Define optimal customer experience for building Last Mile technology solutions.
* Rapidly build and iterate on appropriate-fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.
* Develop functional prototypes to prove and sell concepts to development teams, senior leadership, and partners.
* Partner with engineering to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate through to shipping products and services.
* Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers.
* Evaluate and document any new creative and/or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your work.
* Effectively present and explain your prototype.
* Work as a part of 12-15 member team in a multi-disciplinary environment with product managers, software development engineers, UX designers, front end engineers and UX Researchers.
