Description:

Role: Full Time Delivery Consultant for Draw - New York

Draw is a digital agency within Oliver Wyman that believes in making things better. The team is based in London, New York, and Boston with 50 professionals. We help fans around the world explore their love of music. We help lawyers in beat news outlets to the punch. We help consultants find the next generation of game changers. We help charities better communicate how they're saving children from disease. Everything we do - from building websites to enhancing customer relationships - is driven by a rigorous strategic approach based on our client's core business goals. We focus on outcomes, not outputs.

The Opportunity:

Draw is looking to expand its team in its New York or Boston office. Many agencies have a team of hybrids, responsible for both the client service and project management tasks within a digital agency. This delivery role breaks out of that and focuses on the project management aspects. This role is perfect for someone early in their career who is looking to challenge themselves and hone their project and product management skills. As we work with lots of international clients some domestic and international travel maybe involved.

Progression:

The typical progression for a Delivery Consultant is to develop your skills delivering multiple smaller projects, or a core stream in a wider engagement in order to step up and take on and lead larger projects. Development within the business would take you through Senior Delivery Consultant to Delivery Lead. The latter being where you can help manage and mentor other junior members of the team. With that comes further opportunity to establish better processes and expand the structure; therefore, gaining more autonomy and more responsibility as we grow.

Your background:

As a Delivery Consultant, your role is to help the project team execute projects successfully. You'll need to have a strong focus on effective planning, organization, be able to follow and input into good processes and ways of working as well as help the team drive a project in the right direction.

Project Delivery:

You'll have at least 1 to 2 years helping to set up and support the running of digital projects, as well as running some smaller projects of your own. You'll be ready to roll your sleeves up and take on whatever tasks a project requires, from gathering data for reports, chasing people for timesheets to planning timelines and managing JIRA tickets.

Communication skills:

As a key requirement of this role is outstanding communication skills; you will need to have an ability to flex your style to build strong relationships, both internally and externally at all levels. You need to be confident, affable, approachable and able to liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders as well as team resources. You'll have some experience working with a team of UX and UI designers and front and back-end developers to deliver digital projects, be it web platform builds or business tools. In this role, you may also be working with data scientists and engineers.

Project and Product management:

You'll be supporting, planning (and in time managing) projects, sometimes with lots of moving parts, and potentially across multiple smaller projects. You'll need to be able to familiarise yourself with the details of a project, plan appropriately and identify what you need to complete your tasks. The business responds well to early recognition of blockers and challenges and working through problems as a team.

You'll ideally have some knowledge of AGILE including Agile Scrum, although we put everyone on the business through training for Agile DSDM. You'll understand what use cases and requirements are, and you will always be curious to ask why and how to ensure you know exactly what the expectations and constraints are of the project you are involved in. Eventually, you may have a role in helping to prioritize and document requirements, build consensus, and coordinate schedules with our team of developers and designers.

Fundamental to your success will be detailed organization and management of tasks and workload as well as some business and technical understanding of what you are helping to build.

Experience in using JIRA and other project management tools like Trello and Smartsheets will be useful.

Team working:

We are looking for people who can add value to clients and projects while working closely with the teams delivering it. Being able to find a balance between working autonomously and within the team will be a big contributing factor to how successful you are in this role. Being supportive, considerate, and respectful in your approach will help grow your reputation within the agency.

Understanding of digital:

You'll have a keen interest in all things digital and naturally want to learn and know more. In order to make informed decisions relating to your project delivery, you will need a some understanding of front and back-end technologies and development processes. Quality assurance is a massive factor in any project we deliver, so you'll need to have some experience of working on a project which has used a testing methodology.
