Brief Description:

The Database Engineer engages directly with all groups within Technology.  This individual must perform in a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for working directly with the development team to support and deploy changes to the various test environments. The Database Engineer will be responsible for designing, modifying, developing, and implementing data driven solutions for our applications. This position will focus on the development and design of a robust, scalable database structures and queries. Responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance and work with other developers optimizing SQL statements as necessary for applications.

Responsibilities:

Develops, designs and implements advanced SQL queries to improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs and meet the business needs.

Advanced knowledge and hands on experience of key technical concepts, such as: logical and physical data modeling, performance tuning, code reviews process, data normalization processes, data integration methods, production support, etc.

Provides guidance to the intra departmental team in the interpretation and application of the departments' and translate business needs to technical specifications.

Be part of cross-functional projects to address data requirements

Create, maintain, and modify SSIS Packages.

Analyze existing SQL / ETL Scripts and improving them to achieve better performance and reliability

Ability to manipulate data using SSIS and TSQL.

Ability to write complex stored procedures and TSQL code.

Experience in performance tuning SQL Server and SSIS Packages.

Ability to write efficient TSQL and ETL Code.

Experience/Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Technology or a related field of study

Must have at least 5 years of experience in as a Database Engineer for SQL Server (2012/2014/2016) in a multi-site enterprise environment supporting an ecommerce application.

Must have 5 years of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Must have thorough knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics on SQL Server. Must have experience in troubleshooting and resolving SQL Server database problems related to code performance.

Must have experience with Team Foundation Server and GIT.

Must have experience supporting development through multiple environments.

Must have 2 years of Python, C# and PowerShell development experience

Must have 2 years of experience working in an AWS cloud environment.

Strong knowledge with big-data data lake design, including data validation, data ingestion, data consuming.

Fluent in Enterprise Data Modeling (Dimensional & Relational) with a solid understanding of the Data modeling concepts like Star-Schema Modeling, Snowflakes Modeling, Fact and Dimension Tables modeling of data at all the three levels: conceptual, logical & physical design.

Proficient in writing Transact SQL queries involving creation of Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, File groups, Partitions, performing inserts, updates, deletes using Joins, Sub queries, Cursors and adding constraints on the tables.
