The Sr Database Administrator at Purdue Northwest University (PNW), performs all the DBA administration and consultation responsibilities by administering the Oracle and SQL Server environment database environments.

Job Responsibilities

* General administration of Oracle RDBMS 11g and 12c and SQL Server including installation, backups, monitoring, performance, maintainance, migration,cloning,data refreshes, applying patches and upgrades to the databases, including incident management, shell scripting
* Follow best practices, establish standards, policies, and procedures for Oracle database installation, management and use.
* Work closely with System Administrators and Infrastructure teams to support the database platform. Understanding of multi-tiered application architecture and troubleshooting methods in such environments is required.
* Provide consultation and support to developers and users of the database environment.
* Provide application support including planning, analysis, coordination, support and maintenance of ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner, ESM, Luminis portal database, Operational Data Store (ODS), Degreeworks, EDW, Workflow, BDMS / XtenderSolutions, UC4, Touchnet, BEP, eTranscripts, and any other client applications. Provide support for third-party application integrations.
* Maintain an understanding of technology trends within the industry and participate in professional development activities. Other duties as assigned.
* Be available on-call to participate in production support resolve critical issues outside of business hours. Also, availability is needed for downtime system maintenance during weekends.
* Other duties as assigned.
* May have to travel to the Westville Campus as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Experience

4-5 years of Oracle DBA, 3 years SQL Server and Linux experience. Experience with Oracle Enterprise Database Systems, versions 12c and higher, running in a multiple host or clustered environment, and administration of Oracle RDBMS 11g and 12c and SQL Server including installation, backups, monitoring, performance, maintainance, migration,cloning,data refreshes, applying patches and upgrades to the databases, including RAC and ASM, incident management and shell scripting. Experience with managing Oracle Cloud Control environment, proactively monitor and optimize system performance using Oracle Cloud Control, using ADDM for tuning, optimization, AWR, ASH, and other methods. Experience in Oracle backup and recovery methods, shell scripting, RMAN, Data pump utilities EXPDP/IMPDP is a must. Knowledge of implementation and management of Oracle standby databases DataGuard preferred. Experience with Oracle Streams and Materialized Views needed. Experience in managing Weblogic and Tomcat Application server implementations preferred. Experience with modern SAN file systems, network and firewall configuration, and DNS as they pertain to database system architecture and functionality. Experience with Operational Data Storage (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Oracle products administration, Shell scripting, Ellucian Banner ERP products: Banner 9 Administration, Banner Enterprise Identity Services (BEIS), Single Sign-on Configuration/ and Support (SSO). Must have extensive experience with Database security, especially user access controls, application or user privileges, profile or role-based grants, auditing, and authentication methods.
