Job Description

Database Administrator Director (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Quincy, MA): The Database Administrator Director will utilize experience with system design, engineering, implementation, and performance tuning to lead projects in an enterprise computing environment. Specific duties include: utilize Utilizing Unix-Linux, Solaris; Hadoop and Hadoop Application architectures; knowledge of automation and orchestration with cfengine, Puppet, Ansible, Bash, and Python programming; databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, Postgres, and Hive; Java and .Net; and distributed computing concepts in the performance of assigned job duties; engage with business units and key stake holders on strategic project; design and implement innovative solutions supporting business critical functions and applications; demonstrate skills in problem assessment and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex setting; leading infrastructure automation and orchestration; providing root cause analysis and implementing fixes to eliminate outages and effectively manage them; responsible for infrastructure automation and orchestration; responsible for providing root cause analysis and implementing fixes to eliminate outages in the infrastructure; recommend and document best practice guidelines; and work as a responsible member of engineering team in leading various infrastructure initiatives and also mentor junior staff.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field plus 8 years of work experience in an enterprise computing environment.

Must have: demonstrated experience with system design & engineering, implementation, operations and performance tuning; demonstrated experience with Unix - Linux, Solaris; demonstrated experience with Hadoop & Hadoop Application architectures; demonstrated experience in automation & orchestration with cfengine/Puppet/Ansible & Bash, Python programming; demonstrated experience with databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, Postgres & Hive; demonstrated experience in supporting Java & .NET applications; proven knowledge on concepts of distributed computing & implementing distributed computing solutions; proven problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to multitask across multiple concurrent projects; and excellent inter-personal skills with strong written and communication skills.
