Title Database Administrator Job Reference 19-0178 Post Date 7/9/2019 City/Location Washington DC State Va Point of Hire Seattle, WA Company DDATA - DesignDATA Reports To Project Director Type of Position Regular Full-Time FLSA Status Exempt Description JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this position will be to be the sole database administrator for a large Washington DC-based organization of approximately 500 users, 100 total servers, and 10-15 SQL servers running mostly SQL 2012 and SQL 2014. These servers are hosted in a mix of an Amazon Web Services environment and on-premise on Microsoft HyperV. Applications running on SQL include Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics. High Availability is in use via SQL mirroring with a witness server. This organization is also starting a data warehousing initiative and will need the support of this position to offer recommendations, manage integrations, and to help execute this initiative. This position will be part of a team of ~10 individuals providing IT services to this customer, will have an adjunct team of an additional~10 individuals to provide services in a shared role, all as part of a 90+ person IT organization.
Additionally, this position will also be responsible for helping to design a business practice within designDATA around database administration. As a large IT Managed Services Provider, designDATA wants to expand our offerings to include database administration. This includes designing what is included in this service offering, setting standards for how we would deliver this service, how to ensure the service is profitable, and what additional staffing and skillsets will be required to deliver this service.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
* 5+ years working in SQL database administration (including SQL 2012 and 2014)
* 3+ years being a lead / sole SQL database administrator in a complex database environment
* Experience with configuring SQL best practices (performance, high availability, security, backup and recovery)
* Experience with SQL licensing and cost management
* Experience with SSRS and reporting a plus
* Experience with Oracle Databases
* Experience as a DBA with AWS Cloud databases are a bonus.
* Valid driver's license, insurance and reliable personal vehicle
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual will be subject to sedentary work with the majority of hours in a professional office environment, and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands. The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal. Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects (1-40 lbs.) are required.
