Job Description

Individuals within the database job family are responsible for designing, implementing, securing and maintaining integrity on the various types of databases running on multiple operating systems at MemorialCare. The database group ensures vendor specifications and recommend best practices for implementation to ensure system optimization and performance on test, development, and production databases for MemorialCare's computing platforms. Database group services include monitoring, diagramming, budgeting, back up and database restoration services to sustain highly available database operations. The database group responds to incidents, provide troubleshooting and escalation support for remediating service and performance issues.

Under general supervision, the MemorialCare Database Administrator performs Tier 2 support, resolving problems and issues associated with access, performance, backup and security on assigned application specific databases. The Database Administrator ensures the highest levels of availability, performance and capacity are maintained. Identifies opportunities for optimization by actively monitoring and exposing recurring issues, then works independently or with senior team members to implement proposed solutions.

Experience

* Minimum 3 years Data Base administration experience
* Established analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review complicated database problems, understanding flaws and recommending improvements.
* Demonstrated attention to detail, providing the ability to create complex diagrams for database and system documentation ensuring system compatibility will work together.
* Organized for tracking database inventory, work queue requests and vendor escalation procedures.
* Historically collaborative in designing, building, implementing and supporting highly available database architectures.
* Demonstrated proficiency with office, system diagramming, and presentation software.
* Proven effective communicator utilizing verbal and written communication to successfully achieve customer, peer, and vendor understanding.
* Experienced in a healthcare environment preferred.

Education

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred
* MCSA: "Active" SQL Server certification or (Oracle certification)
* Oracle Database Administrator "Active" certified associate or (Microsoft certification
