Responsibilities

* Enable engineering teams throughout the company to make data driven decisions through interactive web applications and dashboards
* Visualize data in an effort to provide actionable insights
* Help determine what data is important to surface
* Work with front-end engineers to display visualizations in a performant way

Qualifications

* Experience building modern web applications and UIs in JavaScript
* Experience using JavaScript libraries like D3, Vega, Crossfilter, or similar for creating performant visualizations
* Familiarity with SQL and basic data manipulation; we use PostgreSQL
* Experience using REST APIs
* Experience working with component-based UI libraries for building single-page applications; we use React

Desired Skills

* Experience in 3D graphics; we use Three.js
* Experience with TypeScript
* Experience with Python
* Experience in UX, prototyping, or design
* Experience in web mapping tech like Leaflet or Mapbox
* Experience with other UI toolkits: Qt, GTK+

The Founding Team

Aurora has assembled the most experienced leadership team in the space. Chris Urmson helped lead Carnegie Mellon's efforts in Darpa's Grand Challenges, then was a founding member of Google's self-driving team. Sterling Anderson worked on the tech at MIT before leading Tesla's Autopilot system. Drew Bagnell, also a Carnegie Mellon alum, is a machine learning expert who helped build Uber's autonomy effort. At Aurora, these three continue to bring experts from all areas of the industry to the team. We are funded by some of Silicon Valley's best venture capital firms, including Greylock and Index Ventures.
