This entrepreneurial data science role involves working closely with our data analytics team, cross-industry Businesses, and technologists to develop and deliver insights with the greatest business impact. The successful incoming team member will have a passion for technology, comfort working across a range of technology capabilities, including databases, software, and infrastructure, and enthusiasm for solving complex problems.

We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for analyzing data and developing predictive models for business driven use cases across our Businesses. The successful candidate will bring strong experience employing different data mining / data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building, and implementing models. They should have a proven ability to drive business results with data-based insights. They are comfortable understanding the business context and interpreting & explaining the findings of analyses as it applies to the business problem in clear, simple terms.

Responsibilities

* Work with stakeholders, identifying opportunities for leveraging data to solve for business challenges and opportunities
* Identify valuable data sources / datasets that can be leveraged to improve results
* Analyze data to interpret against business opportunity and discover trends, patterns
* Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of structured / un-structured data used for analyses
* Develop models using cutting-edge tools and machine learning to solve business challenges and create new business opportunities. Research and implement custom statistical models and machine learning algorithms
* Deploy models by working with internal technology teams on the implementation of models and insights into products and services
* Execute analytical experiments
* Leverage expertise with SQL, Python, R; familiarity with Scala, Java or C is an asset
* Leverage an extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis
* Utilize statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
* Possess deep understanding of real-life applicability and limitations of machine-learning algorithms and vocalize issues
* Present outcomes of data analyses to multiple cross-disciplinary stakeholders
* Possess a problem-solving aptitude, intellectual curiosity, analytical mind and business acumen

Required Skills and Experience

* Entrepreneurial mindset and strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on results
* Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or other relevant quantitative or computing field
* 4-7 years of experience manipulating datasets and building statistical models, with proven track record
* Experience within Financial Services or Fintech is highly desired
* Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, knowledge systems, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
* Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
* Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
* Expertise querying Relational / No-SQL databases and using statistical programming languages like Python, R, etc.
* Coding knowledge and experience with several languages such as C, C++, JavaScript
* Experience with distributed data/computing tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.
* Experience working with and creating data architectures
* Experience with data-science tools such as Jupyter, Dataiku, etc.
* Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, etc.
* Knowledge of open-source, 3rd party, cloud-based data science / NLP / machine learning platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, or Azure offerings)
* Excellent verbal communication, written and presentation skills for coordinating across teams. Ability to clearly present insights to internal stakeholders
* A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
