Airbnb is a fast-growing company, nearly doubling our workforce in the past two years. Such dynamic growth raises important questions, including how to identify the best recruiting strategies; how to keep employees engaged and happy; how to hire, promote, and retain a demographically diverse workforce; and how to maintain our unique culture while scaling rapidly. While we have a lot of data to bring to bear, information is only as valuable as it is understood by decision-makers. We are looking for a talented data scientist with particular strength in engineering skills to provide a strong data foundation to build upon for reporting and analysis. We are looking for people with expertise in SQL who can translate those data into metrics, dashboards, and analysis. You will sit at the intersection of data science and engineering, and work collaboratively to achieve highly impactful outcomes.

Your Activities:

* Interface with fellow data scientists, engineers, and business partners to understand data needs
* Architect, build, and launch efficient & reliable new data models, schemas and pipelines to enable analysis
* Become a data expert in your domain and own data quality for the pipelines you build
* Build tools for auditing, error logging & validating data tables
* Build tools to automate data science work (e.g. modify a function in Python or R)
* Define logging needs in partnership with engineering
* Analyze data to define business metrics
* Design and develop dashboards to enable faster data consumption
* Perform data analysis to understand the opportunity for new business and product initiatives

Required qualifications:

* Passion for high data quality and scaling data science work
* 2+ years of relevant industry experience
* Strong skills in SQL
* Ability to perform statistical analysis to inform business decisions
* Proven ability to succeed in both collaborative and independent work environments
* Detail oriented

Preferred qualifications:

* Familiarity with experimentation
* Experience with an ETL framework like Airflow
* Python skills preferred
* An eye for design when it comes to dashboards and tools
