Job Description

The Position

Genentech's Early Clinical Development (ECD) department within gRED is seeking a Data Scientist / Data Engineer. You will focus on the identification and practical implementation of technology and methods to help drive ECD's digital transformation.

In this role, you will be a key collaborator for a range of cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Clinical Science, Clinical Operations, Clinical Data Management, and Quality functions) and across multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, neuroscience, metabolism, infectious disease, and others.

Responsibilities

The Data Scientist will help drive transformation of clinical trials from document-based systems to systems that automate the flow of information. You be responsible for taking high-level concepts and making them reality through rapid application development. We will also explore the use of artificial intelligence in this transformation (e.g., modeling from spheroids to organs on chips). To this end, you will ideally have the following software skills: machine learning, deep learning, and a statistical background. Additionally, you will provide engineering guidance to other ECDi team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

* (5+ years) and a proven track record in software engineering


* Experience with RESTful APIs and microservice designs, architecture, and methodologies


* Experience with Python, Scikit Learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras, Matplotlib, Numpy, Pandas


* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills


* Strong oral and written communication skills


* A great team player, collaborative and excited about Genentech's mission



Preferred Qualifications

* Clinical drug development domain knowledge


* Experience working with clinical and biomedical data types (e.g., clinical patient data, omics, imaging)



Education

Bachelor's or Master's in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering
