About Pymetrics

Job Description

Using neuroscience-based assessments and machine learning algorithms, pymetrics is reinventing the recruiting industry by matching candidates to jobs where they are most likely to succeed. We are leading the charge in an evolving industry and growing our amazing team to support the mission of using data to unleash one's full potential.

We are looking for a talented data scientist to join our core product development team. Data scientists on the core team contribute to the predictive modeling used throughout pymetrics to match job candidates to roles, audit algorithms for potential bias, and optimize solutions for faster, more robust analyses. You will work on an academically diverse team (with backgrounds in machine learning, statistics, behavioral science, and computer science) to test new methods and optimize existing solutions.

The ideal candidate would bring experience in statistical and machine learning methods that could supplement our existing knowledge. We're looking for a data science generalist with a broad skillset and a desire to acquire new skills to investigate creative solutions to interesting projects. We value an ability to communicate with a bright team from diverse backgrounds, and the initiative to pursue solutions independently and with scientific rigor.

Responsibilities:

* Develop machine learning solutions for new and existing data products relating to hiring
* Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to identify trends in data
* Work with clients to apply custom data science solutions to unique problems
* Understand and improve methods for organizing and extracting data from SQL and NoSQL databases
* Write production level code for practical application of data products
* Interact with data scientists, analysts, engineers and product managers on other data products implemented at pymetrics, including language analysis, psychometric assessment, data visualization and legal inquiries.

Requirements

* MS/PhD preferred
* 2+ years experience in statistics, data science or machine learning preferred
* Practical knowledge of Python and its scientific libraries of SciPy, Scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy, with extensive knowledge of programming best practices
* Solid foundation in machine learning models, processes, and theories, with the ability to evaluate different algorithmic approaches
* Working knowledge of statistics and probability (statistical inference, Bayesian statistics).
* Embodiment of our core company values of motivation, positivity, curiosity, humility and integrity, and buy-in for our company mission of eliminating bias in hiring
* Willingness to live and work in the NYC metro area

Nice to Haves:

* Knowledge of psych/cogsci/neuroscience research
* Interest in issues of transparency and fairness in AI
* Eye for data visualization and presentation of data-driven insights
* Comfort with SQL

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Benefits

* Health care plan (medical, dental & vision)
* Flexible paid time off
* Family leave (maternity, paternity)
* 401k
* Team budget for training & development
* Stock option plan
* Commuter transportation reimbursement
* Midtown Manhattan location
* Dog-friendly workplace
* Fun, diverse and intellectually eager coworkers
* Team happy hours and retreats
