The Data Science Engineer is responsible for participating in all phases of the design and development life cycle of analytic models, applications, and supporting tools.

Position may be located either in Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

* Develop the design, implementation, and continuous delivery of an insights data pipeline supporting the development and operation of custom analytic products/services across the organization.


* Collaborates with Data Scientists, Business Owners, and IT support to define and design the big data solutions.


* Specialists who design, build, and integrate data from different sources, with support from IT, which enable Data Scientists to create algorithms/models in the organization's big data ecosystem.


* Develops analytics platform components and/or processing components required to enable a solution


* Develops application and/or processing components required to enable a solution


* Experience with transforming data into actionable business information, and will make it readily accessible to divergent stakeholders. You will own the design, creation, and management of extremely large datasets.


* Engage with business stakeholders to build and own "end-to-end" solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization.


* Leverage data, technology, and quantitative methods to build products that inject analytics and insights into the daily workflow of teams across all major business units.


* Develops and defines application scope and objectives, including impact to interfaces. Analyzes and evaluates detailed business and technical requirements.


* Ensures system testing is completed and meets the test plan requirements. Coordinates integration activities with other Data Science team members and IT to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.


* Mentors and provides training, conducts vendor product evaluations and participates in pilots.



Requires BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines; 2 years experience in predictive analytics and experience with software such as Hadoop technologies; 2 years Teradata experience and complex SQL, or equivalent; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

1+ years experiencing leveraging Hadoop technologies - HDFS, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Oozie, MapReduce, Flume, Spark, distributed processing concepts, Hbase, and the Cloudera Hadoop distribution; 2+ years database programming experience using SQL (Advanced SQL); 3+ java development experience for batch, web services/API, and web application development. Solid understanding and experience using at least two of the following programming languages - Python, Scala. Strong experience with Unix and Shell scripting and knowledge of Source Control (GIT) preferred. Sound abstract, analytical, problem solving/troubleshooting and critical thinking skills needed.

Strong knowledge of Teradata (BTEQ). Multi database and multi-language preferred
