Job Description

Systems Intelligence gathers data from Amazon's internal systems and software development tools to answer key questions regarding the productivity of our development teams and internal systems. We use identify bottlenecks and gain insights about risks to software delivery, and build tools to directly address these issues.

As a Data Engineer on the Systems Intelligence Team, you will build the next generation of tools and systems that help make Amazon Development teams more productive. Data is the core of what we do. You will work with fellow scientists and engineers to develop scalable and innovative solutions that enable Amazon to gain insights about development velocity and identify friction points between teams. You will be responsible for designing systems that leverage cutting edge proprietary and open source data management technologies.

You should be an expert in the architecture of Data Warehouse solutions for the Enterprise using multiple platforms, and excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. You will manage a highly complex data environment focused on and shared by Amazon Development Teams and Systems. You should have excellent business and technical communication skills and be able to work with customers, scientists, and other engineers to design and implement a data warehouse environment for reporting and analytics. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of scalable solutions that will support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for our data.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power
* Interface with other technology teams to integrate data from a wide variety of data sources
* Build and deliver high quality data architecture and pipelines to support business analysts, data scientists, and other customers
* Manage AWS resources including Redshift, RDS, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda, as well as internal Amazon tools and systems
* Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
* Optimize the performance of business-critical queries and manage ETL pipelines
* Hire, mentor and develop the best Business Intelligence and Data Engineering talent for Amazon
