About the role

Zillow is looking for someone with a passion for technology to support Zillow's datacenter environments and network infrastructure. This is a entry level opportunity within Zillow, and for the right person, a role with unlimited potential. Zillow is looking for an intelligent, service driven, and self-motivated individual with a deep curiosity about technology along with a mind for organization and order--and can to clearly demonstrate both to us. Experience within a large-scale datacenter environment and experience working with enterprise server technologies are desired, but not necessary for this role.

This role is responsible for the helping with the day-to-day management of our datacenter environments across the country, as well as coordinating with internal service engineering groups to deploy and maintain the underlying infrastructure that supports the efforts to build the largest home real estate market place in the world. This entails the deployment of hardware infrastructure and troubleshooting of hardware components across our internal and production datacenter environments. In addition to direct interactions with server and networking equipment, a successful candidate for this position has a meticulous attention to detail. This role includes deployment logistics, asset control, configuration, and on-site vendor management. This is a fast paced, hands-on position that interfaces with a variety of engineering teams including Storage, Networking, Linux, Telephony, Database, and Windows. Candidates are not expected to be subject matter experts but will be expected to have the desire to learn and assist with the various enterprise technologies while managing their core role responsibilities.

The right person is highly organized, and service driven with an acute attention to details with strong underlying troubleshooting skills. This individual will work within a small team and is expected to immediately take on a number of responsibilities with a positive and helpful attitude. This is NOT a role for someone looking for a predictable, cookie cutter position within a large company with limited duties. This is a ground floor role for someone looking to learn and grow in one of the more dynamic and forward-looking industries around. Your background may be in server support or datacenter management, or it may be more closely related to cable management or general tech support.

Minimum requirements

* 1-2 years of IT troubleshooting in any capacity
* Experience in basic IT hardware configuration and the rollout of new or upgraded hardware under tight deadlines
* Experience in environments performing asset tracking and management
* Perform hardware troubleshooting and component replacement
* Collaborate with engineering remove project obstacles and resolve hardware and connectivity issues
* Willingness to eventually participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
* Strong customer service skills and demeanor with easy going and approachable personality
* Able to deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes when required
* Must have valid driver's license and their own vehicle and be willing to travel within the Seattle area
* Work effectively with minimum supervision and function well under pressure
* Must have the ability to work on a lift over 25 pounds
* Candidate should be able to bend, twist and reach as well as be comfortable working on a ladder
