As a Data Analytics Software Engineer with MITRE's T857 Software Engineering Department you can apply and expand both your data science and software development skills to solve large-scale data challenges. Join our team to leverage your academic foundation and work experience to prototype solutions to complex data problems and use your knowledge of the latest techniques for ingesting, modeling and analyzing data.

In this position you will collaborate on teams consisting of MITRE, Government and Industry developers, analysts and data scientists to answer questions of national significance. Key functional and technical areas of this role include:

* Build and test prototypes in MITRE, government labs, and commercial cloud environments
* Perform hands-on design, development, test and evaluation, and demonstration of advanced prototype software capabilities
* Apply state of the art techniques, using multiple programming languages and development environments and open source code to drive advances in mission capabilities
* Application of Map Reduce programming model and analytics technologies such as Hadoop, Hive and Pig
* Use of database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, or SQL-like equivalents, as well as NoSQL-based databases such as Mongo.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar technical field
* Experience in one or more programming languages (Python, R, Java, JavaScript, C++)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong fundamental knowledge of computer science, especially algorithms and data structures germane to the development of high-quality, efficient software.
* Passion for emerging technologies and solving real-world mission problems or creatively advancin operations in support of the intelligence community.
* Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, teaming environment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience applying data analytics tools (R, MATLAB, Kibana, Tableau) to mission problem sets
* Understanding of enterprise platforms (JavaEE, .NET), Cloud Computing, Web Services principles and Service Oriented Architecture (SOAs) and frameworks such as Spring.
* Understanding of Big Data tools (e.g., NoSQL DB, Hadoop, Mongo DB, ElasticSearch)
* Experience in agile software development paradigm (e.g., Scrum, XP), continuous software integration, test and deployment
* Experience applying data sciences techniques, to include artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistical modeling and data visualization
