Job Description

Position Purpose:

The position's purpose is the development and maintenance of data reporting tools to support district projects and systems that require information regarding students' academic performance. The primary reporting tool this position supports is the Dallas ISD's Internet website, MyData Portal, which school and central office personnel access to monitor academic performance of students and to make data-based decisions regarding curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and progress towards program goals.

Responsibilities of an Analyst III include training and mentoring of other Data Analysts in the department.

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited university required with a major in computer science, information science, applied mathematics, engineering, or related field preferred
* Six (6) years' experience in a District position with responsibilities related to position's major responsibilities, including four years' experience developing J2EE-compliant web applications
* Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Java, and C# (required)
* Fluent in SQL and experience with JDBC (required)
* Ability to use WebLogic Application Server and WebLogic Workshop IDE (required)
* Demonstrated ability to create and maintain detailed technical implementation documentation
* Ability to work quickly and efficiently and to adapt when deadlines and priorites change
* Communication skills sufficient to participate effectively in technical discussions with other district personnel

Basic Functions:

* Develop, maintain, and debug Java classes and JSP based on design specifications
* Develop client side user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (JQuery)
* Convert existing code to an MVC architecture, and ensure efficiency and quality by adhering to coding standards and templates
* Write and edit stored procedures to create datasets and compute statistics necessary for projects
* Assist with maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server databases
* Deploy new versions and patches to the website
* Proactively report progress on assigned tasks
* Estimate work effort, identify task dependencies, and identify development risks and corresponding mitigation plans
* Support product development, customer care, and client service through maintenance, testing, and quality management
* Train and mentor Data Analysts I and II as assigned by supervisor or designee
* Additional tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor or designee

Minimum Salary:

$65,851

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based professional employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the Executive Director - Human Capital Management.
