Job Overview The candidate is expected to directly participate in team design activities, including those related to the applications, services, and higher layer protocols built upon the use of LTE-V2X and NR-V2X as the underlying access layer technology. The candidate is also expected to develop technical contributions based on those designs and give high quality presentations of them in relevant SDOs and/or industry associations (such as 5GAA, ETSI, IEEE 1609, SAE, ISO, etc.), to obtain consensus and proactively promote Qualcomms preferences. Attendance to relevant SDO working groups may be part of the job. Consequently, the candidate is expected to be available to travel for week-long meetings (on average 6 or more meetings per year are to be expected, distributed between Europe, North America and Asia). The candidate should have good leadership qualities and be capable to providing guidance and direction to coordinate the efforts of a small team when assigned in a leadership role. The candidate will operate in collaboration with different business units within the company, including research projects and product groups in San Diego. The candidate will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines. " id="hdnPreferredQualifications" />*PhD or MS + 5 years experience, or equivalent mix of education and experience, in a field related to communications, preferable wireless (cellular) communications or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). - Solid understanding of wireless communication systems and wireless radio technology principles is required. - Experience in CAV and ITS is essential. - Experience in standardization working groups is preferable, especially as relates to vehicular communications, automated driving, protocols, networks, and systems. - A good understanding of radio access layer technologies, in particular 3GPP C-V2X, is a plus. - A good understanding of key business concepts and being able to relate this to various business strategies for both Qualcomm and others in the industry is also a plus.
