Experience and Education

High school graduation or GED plus successful completion of vocational training in computer programming and three (3) years experience in computer operation and/or programming, including at least one (1) year as Computer Programmer I or equivalent.

Job Duties

* Defines problems presented by other programmers or users or assists research and other personnel in defining problems for computer solutions, determining methods of approach, selecting, modifying, or writing new programs, and structuring data formats for solution of problems.
* Studies assigned program descriptions.
* Writes and test-runs programs, including preparation of all levels of documentation and flow-charts, computer instructions (code) and test data.
* Documents procedures used throughout computer program.
* Checks programs for logical sequence of machine operations and proper performance.
* Modifies existing programs of moderate complexity as required to fit new circumstances.
* Assists computer programmers in developing, testing, and revising programs.
* Assists users and other programmers in use of special programs and techniques as required.
* Provides working supervision to Computer Programmers of lower grade.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
