Job Description

Description:This position is for a cloud architect within the Infrastructure and International (I2) Technology Office and Cloud Business Office team, working for Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Technology (EIT). The position will be part of a small, motivated team of architects, engineers, and developers who are focused on the design, development, and deployment of infrastructure, platform, and application stacks on Amazon Web Services (AWS) across both the Enterprise and Business Area ecosystems. The position will work with Business Area Program teams, Applications teams, and Corporate Information Security to ensure we are implementing cloud-optimized designs, secure architecture frameworks, and application centric approaches for AWS.

In this role, the qualified candidate will work to enable innovation through continuous deployment across technology stacks, with deep hands on skills. The candidate will build AWS architectures, provide prescriptive guidance, and develop solutions across network, storage, operating systems, databases, Cloud Management Platforms, and mid-tier technologies that include application integration and security.

Additionally, the qualified candidate would be expected to consume new concepts and technologies quickly, as well as be able to educate technologists on their applicability and usage. The candidate will work closely with management to develop future plans and schedules and provide input into presentations and/or Engineering and Architecture Reviews.

Must be willing to work flexible hours and be able to travel as required.

WORK LOCATION FOR THIS POSITION CAN BE AT THE U.S. LOCKHEED MARTIN FACILITIES IN: Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Littleton, CO; Orlando, FL; Sunnyvale, CA; Bethesda, MD; Ft Worth, TX

There may be flexibility with another Lockheed Martin location.

A full-time telecommuter is not preferable, but flexibility may be available for the right candidate.

Basic Qualifications:

* Experience with System Engineering or Systems Architecture or Systems Administration
* Experience with Linux and MS Windows Server environments.
* Experience with Operating Systems Command Line Interface (CLI)
* Experience with AWS services (i.e. EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda)
* Solid understanding of cloud computing design and security principles
* Knowledge of common DevOps tools (i.e. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Git)
* Wide range of knowledge across IT disciplines including software, hardware, network engineering
* Working flexible hours and traveling as required
* Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

* BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience
* Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and services; including EC2, S3, ELB, RDS, VPC, Route53, and network/WAN topologies.
* Demonstrated understanding of containerization and/or Docker
* Demonstrated knowledge of architecting secure AWS solutions across core services: EC2, S3, RDS.
* Experience with "on-premises to cloud" migrations or IT transformations
* Advanced experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
* Ability to build, configure, and maintain Windows & Linux OS via Command Line Interface (CLI)
* Demonstrated understanding / proficiency in application containerization (including Docker), APIs, & web services
* Experience with advanced System engineering/Architecture/Administration in a large and distributed environment
* Recognized cloud certification (AWS CSA/Developer/DevOps Engineer, CompTIA Cloud+, CCSK or others)
* Demonstrated experience utilizing Agile frameworks for project lifecycle and/or understanding of Agile development concepts
* AWS CLI Scripting
* Demonstrated understanding and/or on-the-job experience with configuration management systems (e.g. Puppet, Chef, or Ansible)
* Experience with test automation and continuous integration and deployment
* Individual should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
* Experience in refactoring, rebuild, or redesign required during cloud migration activities
* Strong and proven effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
* Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Proven effective leadership skills
* Proven effective teaming skills (co-located and virtual)
* Demonstrable experience working on complex programs, projects, and large cross-functional teams
