About Box

Job Description

Box is growing rapidly, and in order to reach every customer in the world, it's critical for us to build the best in class Capacity Engineering function to efficiently scale Box across a robust Hybrid Cloud infrastructure.

As a Capacity Engineer, you will be responsible for managing infrastructure capacity and working closely with developers and other members of the Engineering & Product organizations to ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of Box's infrastructure as we continue to scale and develop new products and technologies, while keeping up with significant user growth. You will have the opportunity to develop a capacity and performance framework from the ground up, to manage a variety of public and private cloud infrastructure across hundreds of microservices and serve as a trusted advisor across engineering and business functions.

Why the team needs you

Join an elite team of Cloud Service Engineers, Capacity & Performance Engineers, Data Scientists, Hardware Engineers, and Operations professionals with alums from top tech companies (eBay, Twitter, Andreessen Horowitz, McKinsey, etc) solving challenging infrastructure scalability and efficiency issues for one of the fastest growing Enterprise companies. Box is increasing our adoption of many Private and Public Cloud technologies quickly, and our team is moving even faster to build the capability to operate a Hybrid Cloud efficiently and at scale.

We'd look to you to build and operate automation and analytics on multi-terabyte data sets for all site infrastructure performance data - and ensure efficient infrastructure scaling in public and private clouds, including internal customer-facing self service portals to allow users to understand their infrastructure capacity, efficiency, and costs.

In addition, you'd serve as a trusted advisor to multiple Engineering and Product teams to ensure the company understands the business impact of what we are building - especially given the significant impact of Capacity/infrastructure spend on the business.

We move quickly, identify and solve ambiguous problems, and have fun doing it!

Why Box needs you

Box is growing fast. Real fast. Every business in the world is looking to modernize the way that they work. As the leader in cloud content management, Box is the only company that can help enterprises transform how people work together. We are quickly increasing our adoption of cutting edge Cloud technologies, with an increasingly complex set of technical and commercial conditions to optimize. That's where you come in.

Why you need Box

This is your opportunity to provide technical vision and leadership in a space with complex and ever-evolving technical and business challenges. We are early in our journey to a Hybrid Cloud infrastructure, and you will be defining and building the foundations of a robust Capacity Engineering function across Engineering and Product. You will have the opportunity to get experience with multiple Private and all major Public Cloud technologies and work with a top-notch, high performing team with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds.

If you are passionate about working on technologies and design approaches that are disruptive to incumbent Enterprise players, leveraging Open Source, tooling & automation, and agile concepts, and are interested in opportunities to work at a hyper-scale company, we have just the job for you.
