As the Software Development Engineer in this role you will design and develop solutions of complex problems and features in eBooks reading (from file format, fonts and typography to layout to graphics to user interaction) across Kindle devices and applications for Kindle Readers and eBook editing across Kindle Create and Previewing tools for publishers. You will gain and demonstrate technical leadership in areas of your choice and influence the technical vision and operating mechanisms of the team. This role requires engineering competence and hands on experience in solving problems, estimating, planning and delivering end-to-end projects in a dynamic and customer focused environment. Technical knowledge of working on customer facing application or mobile devices will give you a head start.

The Role:
The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, and documentation of C++ and java software across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, FireOS, eInk, PC, MAC). This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and knowledge of embedded systems or application software development, as well as experience in successfully planning, organizing, and conducting software development projects in a customer-focused environment. * Responsible for the software architecture, component design and customer experience.
* Designing and Delivering new reading and editing features.
* Understanding the internals of graphics and rendering subsystems.
* Instilling best practices for software development, writing efficient code, making sure designs meet customers' requirements, and delivering high quality software on tight schedules.
