Job Description

General Summary

The Financial Systems Analyst will assist with the development, implementation, and optimization of business application systems, and perform data analysis to support institutional processes and promote organizational improvement.

Principal Responsibilities

The Financial Systems Analyst:

* Assists with the development and operation of financial system(s) associated with the collection, retrieval, accessibility, and usage of financial data for department planning and activities.
* Supports Operations in the development and use of financial system applications.
* Supports the analysis of financial problems using automated systems.
* Works with Finance personnel to evaluate software and hardware needs and may help design new or modify existing systems to meet changing demands.
* Maintains internal database files and tables and develops custom reports to meet the requirements of Finance management and staff.
* Configures system settings and options, plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing, and creates specifications for systems to meet financial requirements.
* May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems.
* May lead cross-functional linked teams to address financial or systems issues.
* May serve as Finance department liaison to MIS/IT function.
* Generate ad hoc datasets, summaries and report information for end-users using system tools, database queries and scripts.
* Program and maintain dashboards, standard reports and other end-user information resources.
* Build and maintain a reporting repository to centralize organizational dashboards, performance metrics, and daily/weekly/monthly executive reporting.
* Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

* Reports to the Director, Financial Systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

* Bachelor's degree required.
* Comprehensive knowledge with techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports, programming, and SQL Server, and continues developing professional expertise.
* Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills required.
* Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action to identify and resolve problems independently.
* Some automation/programming experience helpful.
* Ability to design and implement complex modeling tools to improve the financial performance of the hospital.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
* Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
* Ability to work collaboratively to improve outcome and efficiencies with strong customer service.
* Ability to identify and implement opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
* SQL Server 2017 including SQL Packages, creating queries, stored procedures, data imports and database optimization
* In-depth expertise in Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas, pivots, charts and graphs and VBA scripting.
* Some experience/knowledge using Microsoft Visual Studio/SSRS
* Experience creating automated reports and self-service tools
* Experience building Tableau dashboards, Microsoft Power BI, or other business intelligence tools preferred.
* Experience with CCL a plus.

Working Conditions

* Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
