Overview

The Business System Leader is responsible for driving successful implementation of process improvement projects enabling Bio-Rad to continue rapid growth and drive profitability. The position will oversee the implementation of sustainable process improvements of mainly non-maufacturing workflows within the Division and will be responsible for measuring and reporting results to ensure change initiatives deliver expected business results. The Business System Leader will be the custodian of action items and will keep the organization focused on the right objectives. The Business System Leader will drive commitment and drive the ongoing value of Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

The position will focus on growth and transactional process improvement projects. Responsibilities include:

* Change Management

o Drives targeted, sustainable improvement by leveraging consulting skills and change

management processes

o Works closely with leadership to implement continuous improvement in targeted areas

o Assists in the development of improvement roadmaps (i.e., how to use tools and processes to

drive sustainable improvement results)

o Supports focused deployment of Lean tools across the organization to assure excellence in

commercial execution

o Ensures successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring commitment to the kaizen process

which includes 1) planning of kaizen with a dynamic funnel process, 2) kaizen execution, and 3)

sustainment of kaizen

* Communications:

o Responsible for team and cross-functional communications (written and oral)

o Elevates critical business decisions to the appropriate management teams and/or functional

managers

* Relationship/People Management:

o Promotes and facilitates diagnosis of work flow impediments throughout the business and

provides expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them

o Collaborates with internal and external business partners for benchmarking performance and

knowledge building of industry best practices to guide decisions for implementation of projects

o Develops and maintains strong relationships with functional leaders to drive success of projects

and teams

o Promotes and facilitates kaizen leadership

o Influences cross-functional collaboration

* Process Management:

o Process Improvement knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables

o Actively reviews policy and practice improvements to drive performance excellence

o Influences cross-functional systems and sales effectiveness

o Financial acumen - budget, forecast, and strategic plan input and preparation

* Leadership Requirements:

o Provide leadership through influence in a complex, matrixed environment.

o Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in

pursuit of organizational objectives.

o Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g., federal/country and

regulatory requirements).

The ideal candidate will love to work on processes together with a team, is able to understand different views and will find the perfect balance between a lean and compliant process definition. To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to pair strong analytical skills and a data-driven outlook with great communication skills. This position requires deep focus on the business and the customer, strong self-motivation and exceptional project management skills.

Qualifications

Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Need to be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint. Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills. Will need to be a quick study who can rapidly adapt to Bio-Rad's culture and gain the confidence of the Bio-Rad organization. This person will be highly motivated and able to handle conflicts. Will be an independent worker, capable of being effectively in dealing with complex situations.

Bachelor's Degree.

MS, MBA or similar a desirable.

Project management training an certification (e.g. PMP) desired.

12+ years of related experience in leading process improvement projects in high growth environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

12+ years of continuous improvement experience; value stream mapping, kaizen, daily management, strategy deployment, and problem solving.

* Proficient in non-manufacturing improvement methodologies in the areas of growth and commercialization; customer care and technical support and product development.
* Excellent communication skills; comfortable in front of all levels of the organization, as well as external customers.
* Strong leadership, negotiation and conflict management skills.
* Experience using process improvement and project management tools.
* Capable of working independently under ambiguous and/or changing conditions.
* Demonstrated ability to function independently in a high-impact position, with deadline and resource constraints.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate across disciplines and integrate all aspects of business as they impact development projects, including negotiation of scope, roles and responsibilities, specifications, timelines, and resources up, across, and down in the organization.
* Demonstrated proficiency applying growth principles in a variety of situations.
* Preferred industry experience in IVD or simiar regulated enviroment.
