The Global Accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany and transfer pricing functions as well as global business expansion support for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.
The Accounting Corporate Reporting Systems (CRS) team defines, executes, and delivers a systems product roadmap that adds great value to our customers though integrated and automated accounting and reporting solutions. CRS seeks an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join our team of experienced financial application administrators, reporting specialists and product managers. CRS is building a reporting and analytics platform to help invent, simplify and automate accounting processes and deliver key insights. CRS delivers these solutions across a global customer base with diverse requirements. In this role, you will own customer engagement, solution design and drive technical specification for development. Some technologies used in the role will be S3, Redshift, ETL, and reporting tools like Quick Sight and Tableau. You will own the vision for long term analytical, automation and reporting projects to deliver sustained productivity gains for the Accounting organization and key stakeholders. You will be Accounting's data and analytics domain expert and use your expertise to drive strategic decision making across relevant systems through engagement with multiple Finance Stakeholders, various Tech teams and their representative leadership.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will build and manage analytical resources on AWS and support analytical projects. You should have deep expertise and proven success in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. Above all you should be passionate about working with huge data sets and eager to learn new solutions to answer business questions and drive change.
Duties & responsibilities for this role will include:
⁻ Work backward from customers' needs and complex challenges to define data and metrics requirements and product vision for multiple analytic projects
⁻ Engage technical teams to drive platform requirements, dive deep into technical details with other engineers, probe assumptions on technology decisions and drive constructive discussions to ensure platform scale functional capabilities
⁻ Design, implement, new big data technologies to support key datasets and provide structured and timely access for actionable business information
⁻ Design and implement automated reporting controls for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance requirements
⁻ Manage reporting environments with very large data sets and disparate data sources including defining key operational/ compliance metrics and reporting related analysis to key stakeholders via business reviews.
⁻ Demonstrate excellent business acumen with strong quantitative/qualitative analytic skills.
Demonstrate strong communication skills with excellent ability to lead cross-functional teams
