About Amazon

Job Description

It's no secret that Amazon delivers tens of millions of packages every day to its customers all over the world with fast speed and low cost. Behind this, there is a gigantic transportation network that consists of thousands of fulfillment facilities that perform complex operations in scale.

The mission of our team-optimizing the planning and design of Amazon's transportation network-is of paramount importance to ensure the continued success of Amazon in shipping, as it strikes to grow and improve. Our team develops advanced optimization models and algorithms that provide optimal solutions for topology planning decisions for different Amazon business programs across all geographies.

As a business intelligence engineer, there are lots of opportunities for you to make an impact -- yes, your work will help shape up Amazon's transportation network in the future. Your talent is wanted to make data accessible to modeling -- our models cannot go very far without good data.

You will design and implement streamlined data pipelines that can scale for volume, velocity, variety, and veracity. Your talent is wanted to make model results measured. You will build metrics and procedures to quantify their goodness and badness (much easier said than done). Your talent is wanted to democratize analytics. You will design and build dashboarding and visualization functionalities that will help our team members and business customers to explore complex multi-dimensional data produced by production systems as well as our models.

Most importantly, your talent is wanted to make yourself grow with the team in a highly interdisciplinary environment. You will be working in a team with extremely diverse tech background (Advanced Analytics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Machine Learning, you name it.)

You should be a self-starter who knows and loves working with BI tools, and who thrives on implementing creative approaches and dealing with the intricate complexity of large data sets. You will also have the opportunity to display your skills in the following areas:

* Building data ecosystems for network optimization models (Java, Python, or other programming languages for mathematical models)
* Performing analysis and validation using mathematical optimization models for network design tasks
* Recognizing and adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
* Partnering closely with other team members to solve analytical problems and working with customers to answer key business questions.
* Communicating with senior management as well as with colleagues from different backgrounds
